What Flywheel are you running? I'm thinking of buying a lightweight flywheel but i'm not really sure I need it. Is it really worth it on a 350 hp DD? I'm planning on doing this or not doing this before I put my motor in.

BTW: I searched over 66 threads and everyone says something different.

I use Toda. Only been driving with it for a week but i love it. Very fast throttle response and rev matching. Not sure if its the best if you like drag racing though. RPM's drop fast when the clutch engages. I use a Exedy Stage II clutch with mine and im still not used to starting off.

I was told that with how light the 240 is that a heavier flywheel is better...is this not true? The shop that did my swap wanted to sell me a lightweight flywheel (used) but I turned it down because of this...

Just curious.

it has nothing to do with how light a car is. and the 240 isnt even that light. its like ~2600#. i have friends with gutted honda crx's(which is ~2000 lbs running super light flywheels.lighter is better to a point. you get too light and there wont be anything to keep the inertia of the wheel up.

I think your money would be beter spent on a light weight 1 piece driveshaft.

I have a toda and a 1 piece driveshaft! I love it... just takes getting used to. Response is great but can be really nimble at times.

After driving my car for a while tonight, ive gotten used to the flywheel alot. Just rev it up to around 2krpm and slowly let the clutch out and give some gas to keep the revs up. No big deal really.

True but you know how we do! we try to upgrade everything we can while the eng. is out or seperated from the trans. so we don't have to later but don't worry drive shaft is coming soon.

right that's why I want to do this now, cuz the engine is out. The car will probley be drag raced alot http://www.norwalkraceway.com/ because It only takes 5 minutes to get here if I drive the speed limit. So should I ditch the lightweight flywheel? I will probley get a 15lb steel driveshaft anyways because i'm finishing up my Auto to Manual swap as well.

I have used the jgy 8.5lb flywheel/6puck clutch setup on a front wheel drive sr20, and it drove awesome! Quick reving, responsive, and nice quick(without being harsh) engagement. I would completely recomend a lightweight flywheel! You can't go wrong. In reply to the person that was told you need a heavy flywheel for a light car - Not only does it not matter that much, but it is the exact opposite - You need a heavier flywheel on a HEAVIER vehicle, to help maintain momentum, and get things rolling smoother.

I've never had any problems with my Fidanza. You don't have to resurface them, they have swappable plates instead... which is handy when all the places in your area charge out the $$$ for resurfacing.

I did a Fidanza with Exedy stage 1, in my opinion it revs faster but the clutch feels like stock. From what I know as far as lightening the driveline is sometimes too light is not good for the engine, for example if you had a lightened flywheel and underdrive pulleys it can throw the balnce off or something like that.

BTW, ideal would be Toda, but it's alot more expensive.
