Flywheel Bolts

Hey everyone, I have looked at a few guides on converting a CA18DET from auto to manual but not noticed anywhere that it says you need new fly wheel bolts.

My assumption would be u do need them as they will need to be longer to pass through the flywheel.

Can anyone confirm this and if so what size are they so I can get some new ones.

Yes, you need them and for the reason you think. Apparently, I have been told by guys in the states, you cannot get them easily. Ask Float, he seems to be up to speed on this.

There is rumor that the CA18ET flywheel botls will work, but I've not confirmed this. You may have to go to ARP and get them.

yeah, ARP wins. Im using them on mine. as soon as i get the crank back from the machine shop, ill have the exact dimensions and part number

its a 1 pitch, about 1.5 inch long bolt, the exact one comes in a pack of 6, so youlll have to buy 2 packs. and each pack is $15 i think (youll end up with 4 extras, i might even buy them from you)

hey how did u get a hold of the ARP flywheel bolts ?? .....or did u use the ca18et ones ?? anywayz ...this is a bit off topic but what are u doing with the crank in the machine shop ??......

I got a qoute from Nissan Australia they want 15 a bolt aussie dollar OUCH.

What do you guys reckon about going to a nut and bolt shop and just getting one to match the auto bolt but a longer pitch?

Will they stand the test of time or possibly snap of in my crank?

M10 x 1.0 by 30mm length fine threaded... metric grade 10.9 or better.

FYI, A more common source might be the 4.6L/5.4L modular ford engines... They use a 10mmx1.0 flywheel bolt as well... They are 1" under head length(thread length), aka about 25mm. They would come as 6, or 8 in a set as thats how many the ford engines use. If the length difference isn't too much they would probably work out fine. If you bought them in the arp hardware they only come in their pro-series hardware (200,000 psi strength). But im sure even the stock ford bolts would be fine. The ford racing oe replacement set of 8 bolts is like $11... so it might be worth a try. If I had my ca out of the car right now I would give it a go....but I don't ... an after thought,im pretty sure sr20 bolts are also m10x1.0, so theres another possibly more readily available option as well. I just happen to have a '95 sr20de sitting in the shed so maybe ill buy that ford racing set and let everyone know the news.

its a pack of 6 flywheel bolts for a Pinto of all things (perfect match for Jun light flywheel, will also be fine for stock flywheel. DO NOT USE FOR OS GIKEN TWIN PLATE FLYWHEEL, thats why

I had an extra crank getting machined.

altho, the damage is minimal, it is fixable with some grinding on teh backside of teh flywheel mount, where the bolts bottomed out and bulged the backside, along with some 1.0 pitch timeserts (helicoil doesnt make a 1 pitch, smallest they do is 1.25 in teh 10 size)

but if you use a thick enough washer, or the torque converter plate spacer thing from an automatic, youll probably be good (measure twice, cut once....... didnt even think of doing that for my flywheel bolts

i just cut my foot on a bunch of nuts+bolts that dumped when a tupperware bin fell on my garage floor

somebody add this **** to a sticky, im tossing the packages when i open them

first time looking close at them, they almost look like a 12 point star head (not a Torx, the whole heat of the bolt is star shaped) i *might* have a socket that will fit

a 12 point regular socket should work, but it may not be great for it (?)

it is a set of 6 bolts, $14.95so youll need 2 sets to get all 8 bolts, unless you have a 6 bolt CA20 crank and flywheel (or tomei stroker kit and/or giken/tomei ca20 flywheel

if enough people call and ask tho, im sure they will package an 8 bolt set and label it as CA18DET.

i got 3 sets, enough for my 'normal' current CA, and the CA20det project, with 4 leftoversif anyone else buys the 2 pinto sets needed, ill buy the extras from you for a fair price (the extra 4 bolts, will be just enough for the hoss ca18 build i am gathering parts for)

PS, starwars (all 6) have been playing near non stop the past few days on more than one movie channel. Jabbas slaves wear hot costumes. Next year, my wife wants to be Elektra for halloween, no. she will be a jabba slave.... maybe a twilek (sp?) ... the hot blue ones with 2 thick tentacles out the top of the head. Carrie fisher didnt wear a bra at all, because 'a long time ago in a bla bla bla, they didnt have bras' ... the twileks are hotter than her

The only movies that mark hammil has been in since star wars has been Slipstream (a mountain woodsy, plane crashy movie that i bought at walmart for $3 because Luke Skywalker was in it, but still cant bring myself to watch) and jay and silent bob strike back. Of note, he was also the voice of Mosley, the police chief in the Gabriel Knight video game series... kinga like kings quest, but in new orleans
