Flywheel and pulley Install Question

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

You would have to be one strong mf'er to bend a KA crank!

Correct tool would be a pulley puller but two pry bars spaced evenly apart behind the pulley usually works well for me. Make sure you pry evenly and it shouldn't be a problem. Some pulleys are seized on over time but your motor is fairly new so you shouldn't have a prob. Good luck!

I'm not going to tell how I got my flywheel off...oh heck, sure I will! I had the oil pan off and the engine upside down so I just stuck an open end wrench sideways between a counterweight and the block. Worked great! They really put those flywheels on well...especially after 11 years.

Get a flywheel tool. It'sa little tool that grabs the teeth of the flywheel and you hold it there while you torque the flywheel screws. I had to put a breaker bar on both my flywheel tool and my ratchet to get the bolts off. Get some anti-sieze too or w-d 40 if you really have problems.

i needed a 230ftlb impact wrench on those bolts. then i cave manned it with a tire iron a little at a time. guess i got lucky.
