yea this was just discussed ill try and find the link later. A few people claim a gear reduction starter is needed, and a few claim the stock CA starter mates up with the SR flyheel tits.

If you go SR, you have many options as aftermarket is huge for that motor. You could also try to find a used CA flywheel from the CA part out on Z ilvia.com, and use a KA disk minus one dowel pin.

hope that helped

Yeah you need a Hitachi gear reduction starter from an S12 CA18ET. It sounds easy and you will never have to worry about the limited selection of ca kits but for some reason not many people take this route. I don't know if its expesive or hard to do but i wouldn't mind making the modification also if i had more information about it.

i didnt need one.. i used the stock ca18det starter it came with.

best thing to do get an sr flywheel and clutch because they are easier to find. sr flywheel bolts work if you dont have those either.

I think the starter issue is dependent on the pressure plate you use. The guy that originally tried this said that the reason for the Hitatchi gear reduction starer was so that the pressure plate didn't rub on the nose of the starter.

By end of week I will have a resurfaced stock ca flywheel for sale, make an offer. It has never been used since it was resurfaced.
