Cops probe parasailing donkey
By QMI Agency

Police have launched an investigation after shocked bystanders witnessed a screaming donkey, attached to a parachute, being pulled by a motorboat over a beach in the southern Russian city of Krasnodar.

“The donkey screamed and children cried,” Krasnodar regional police spokeswoman Larisa Tuchkova told the AFP news agency.

The animal was so high up, some children mistook it for a dog.

The Krasnodar news website Yuga.ru reports the flying donkey was a publicity stunt by a local parasailing company.

“No one had the brains to call police,” Tuchkova added, saying people instead stopped to call newspapers and snap pictures with their phones.

According to the local newspaper Taman, when the donkey finally landed, “it was dragged several metres along the water, after which the animal was pulled out half-alive onto the shore.”

Police are now investigating the parasailing donkey as an act of animal cruelty.

How the hell is that cruelty? Donkeys can swim and water sure as hell won't kill or hurt the thing.

- Stress and fear
- Forcing an animal to partake in a "stunt"
- If you have ever been para-sailing you would know that you do not land in the water smoothly.

Just because a donkey can swim does not mean it should be taken out in the ocean and thrown off of a boat. If this would have been a dog or cat people would have been even more upset.

I am a p****? Why, because I understand that forcing an animal to go para-sailing is animal cruelty and you do not? Now keyboard warrior, put down the can of Redbull before you get yourself in trouble with the name calling.

It's not like they are forcing it to plow someones field or carry a wagon; guess you didn't think about that, did you. :poke:

I know what donkeys are commonly used for, and even working tasks are not 100% ethical... but making it para-sail? come on, you know damn well that thing was scared half to death. I am no PETA nutcase or anything, but stressing out an animal for your amusement is just wrong. This is just like making a small child that is afraid of roller-coasters ride a roller-coaster.

blah blah blah

People mess with their pets all the time. They didn't cut it up, make it bleed or anything like that. The alarmist tone from the article stating that they "dragged it through the ocean" is just plain stupid and extremely subjective. You don't have a clue.

I didn't say you don't get dragged through the water. But it's not the thing they make it sound out to be.

BTW, please stop trying to be so smart. Thanks...

Can't we just call a truce over dinner. I'm making donkey burgers.

Sure Operation Dumbo Drop was hilarious but heaven forbid a mule wants to do some extreme sports.

Trying to make myself sound smart? You assume I am "trying" because I naturally use proper grammar? I am sorry that you have to put in effort to "sound smart."

LOL too funny.

Anyways, it just started out as merely me explaining to him why the incident could be considered animal cruelty. After all, he did state that he did not see how it could be labeled as that. Then he started the name calling. Just points out the morons here. LOL carry on.
