Hey, I haven't bought my Altima Coupe yet, but I will be purchasing a 3.5SE within a month or so. Just wondering though, I found a user on Car Domain that installed a Pioneer Avic D-3 into their dash and it looks like it was done perfectly, I imagine it was either done by a good shop, or she managed to get the bezel from the center console that comes with the Navigation system.

Anyone know if there's an easy way to install one of these because I definitely plan to put move my D-3 into the Altima once I get it.

Here's a link to the car with it installed...http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2668232

You're going to need an aftermarket dash kit. I believe Metra makes the best ones. I've seen an 07 Altima with a full-din DVD player installed with the Metra and it looks factory. You can find it at many online retailers: Just Google 2007 Altima Metra 99-7423

somewhat related to the topic... do you lose all steering wheel controls if you switch to an aftermarket HU?

If you get the Nissan pac you don't have to lose steering wheel controls. It works really well, it's not 100% as responsive as the stock deck but it's good. Here is the d3 installed in my coupe - http://www.altimacoupes.com/fo...d=223

what exactly do you mean by not 100% as responsive? Is there a delay or are some of the button presses never registered?

There's a slight delay. Occasionally it'll miss a button press but it's not the norm.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm really excited about getting this but the dealer where I live is ticking me off. I may end up going somewhere else to buy it, I scheduled an appointment for me and my fianceé to go look at/test drive one today and I told the guy the options I wanted. I told him I wanted the Premium Package cause I have to have digital climate control, black interior, and either the blue or red exterior. Well they had a red one, but it was blonde interior, they had a blue one, no dual zone climate, they had a premium package, but it was the gray color. I asked if they could just order me one the way I wanted it they said no, then went so far as to suggest I drive home today in the gray one, they'd give me a no payments till 2008 finance plan, and that I could use the money I would've been paying until 2008 to go have it painted red or blue. I can't believe this crap. Maybe I'm spoiled from when we bought my fianceé's Scion tC last year, but I remember going to the Toyota dealer and saying we want black, 5-spd, this this and this. And bam, we had it within a week.

Back onto the topic I started though, I'm glad to know there's a nice kit I can buy, I'll have to look into ordering one of those. I can't wait to get this car, I test drove the red one today and the stares I was getting driving around in it just made me feel so good inside. :-)

Hey hey, nothing wrong with grey Have you tried checking other dealerships in you area? Sometimes it pays to have patience. I would look around to find EXACTLY what you want. Don't let them try to talk you into something you really don't want. Good luck.

I like the gray on the sedan, which I was looking at before the coupe released early this summer. I like the sedan in gray and green, but coupe though, to me it's gotta be red, blue, or white, something bright. I just think a car that sporty looking needs a bright color. And I don't typically like black, even though this is one of the best looking cars I've seen in black.

I'm scoping out nearby dealers to see if any have what I want, I've got patience, I want this car to be a Christmas present to myself, so I figure I've got a few months to find what I want.

The dealer has a lot of nerve telling you that! If a dealer ever said that to me, I would have been out of there so quick. The funny thing is, you wouldn't actually be saving money to have this done, it would just delay the start of your payments.

Go to a different dealer and special order it. I just received my special order and it was definately worth the 10 week wait!

I'm not positive about the factory luetooth but I would guess that it's not going to work with the d3...

You do need a gps antenna, I have mine installed in the center of the dash and it's almost unnoticable.

Yeah, I think $700 is right about what you're going to pay at this point. I know a couple people over at avic411.com have set up a camera other than the official Pioneer one for around $100 with great results.
