Would anyone be able to help me with the types of fluid needed? 2009 Nissan Rogue SL 2WD is at 70,000 miles. Rotors, pads, air filter, oil/filter, and cabin filter have all been changed. Has anyone else changed the fluids listed above. Thanks Everyone the help is greatly appreciated.
Firstly, the 2WD(FWD) Rogue does not have a separate transfer case or differential housing. It's all contained within the CVT transmission. The CVT fluid is only available from Nissan and is very expensive at ~$18/quart. You need 9 quarts so a full flush will cost ~$160 just for the fluid. The good news is the fluid has a very long lifespan so unless you tow or drive in very hot/dusty climates, you shouldn't need to change the fluid this early.
IMHO, CVT fluid changes are best left for the dealer. I would not recommend tackling this as a DIY project. If you substitute the wrong fluid, etc you could easily damage the transmission.
As for brake fluid, standard DOT3 brake fluid is best. If you can, buy the OEM Nissan brake fluid. DO NOT substitute DOT4 or DOT 5 brake fluids!
