OK, so recently while sitting at a stop light my idle seems to rev up to like 1100 and back to 750-800. It goes uuuup and doooown, uuuup and doooown. Sometimes it will stay and periodically goes up to 1100 and back down to 750-800. Any reason why this is happening?

On another note, during steady speed, I seem to be misfiring; it almost feels as though it's hesitating, like the acceleration goes in and out. Any clue ? Maybe these problems are related, maybe not...

Thanks.

I'm having the same problems also, and does it like misfire when you hit bumps too? But I took it to auto zone b/c my check engine light is on and they gave me the code for maf and knock sensor. I've ordered a knock sensor so I'm waiting till I get it to change it. I'll let you know if that helps.

Start your car, pop the hood, and start tugging on different parts of your wire harness. If at any point the car stumbles, you most likely have a break in the harness. Both of my s14s had this problem. The first one I paid 200 bucks to have fixed. The second one I spent a few hours to find it myself. Hopefully it's something that simple. Good luck

Is this to fix the idle problem or the misfire problem or both? Thanks.

Mine never had the fluctuating idle, just the misfire. When cruising the car would stumble around, especially after a bump. It started occuring very rarely, and over time got to the point it happened everytime I drove. In my first s14, which was an auto, it got to the point where the car would shut off when I put it in reverse.

It COULD solve all of your problems, but I'm certainly not promising that. But it is definitely worth a shot considering you could go out right now and try it out real quick

This sound very familiar. All of these syptoms on my 95 were do to a bad cam angle sensor on the distributer. I went through hell trying to figure it out.

Mine is doing the same thing revving up and down, back firing and worst of all it rev's high and takes off slow almost as if its not catching. I switched the MAF and Throttle Position Sensor. When I switched the throttle position sensor it did work better but I have not adjusted it.
