What exactly is it? Cat-back? Axle-back? Muffler? Size? Give us some details.

flowmaster is basically just the muffler, although they did need to put some piping on it. i think i have about 2 in. piping all around. maybe a little smaller. the muffler itself only costs about 100 bucks. you get really great sound out of it.the muffler sets right inside of the fiberglass bumper, and you can see the can when you get down there. i put a small stainless tip on it to make it look a little better, but i didn't get it for looks, i got it for the low growl.

90240sx,

Is the flowmaster sport compact series muffler really that loud? I have a 4.3 liter truck with a 40 series muffler and i didnt think it was that loud. And the flowmaster site says that the sport compact series is way quieter. Does the muffler turn on car alarms? let me know. I was seiously into buying one but now i dont know if its that loud i dont want it. I have one of those chrome plated things on my car and the noise is unbearable. It turns on every car alarm. So let me know.

man a $100 bucks for a flowmaster? ive bought single chambers, dual, and the triple chambers versions. they were all like $50 a muffler and thats for 3" in/out. piping shouldve have costed that much. but not a bad price when compared to Apexi, HKS, Blitz, etc..sohc90adel, i had a 99 sonoma w/ the 4.3 and installed the single 40-series with the 80mm ins/outs with side exit, it was a loud hoe! just the thought of flowmaster and 4cyl reminds me of the hoopty work-in-progress showtrucks. rofl.

on my Grand National I was running 3" dynomax ultra flows for the street and the racing bullets for track. thats what they call "turbo" muffler with straight thru design vs. the chamber design like the flowmaster which gives imitates lumpy idle. You can get those for about the same price. i think they have gone down in price though. mine were $70 but mainly because they were fresh to the market, and larger piping. why the hell did i sell that car? i could smoke cumstangs all day. its all for the glory of nissan i suppose

Is there a benefit from getting the flowmaster instead of the more expensive ones except for the money you save? I mean, are there good power gains from flowmaster?
