I am looking to get my first floorjack and some jackstands, too.

Anyone have an opinion on what the best set is out there? I would like some quality hardware, but don't want to spend too much.

eh, its just a jack and stands.stands are pretty similiar across the board, its the jack where kits will differ. expensive kits will have lifts on the plate that pushes it up to the car before you start cranking it down (while other jacks require you to crank it all the way.) Still though, even a reletavly cheap kit will do the job--- just see what you wanna spend and what options you can afford

2 jack stands, and a really nice jack for 99 dollars. Its kinda pricey, but just that jack in the kit is 69. Thats the kit i have, and i just bought 2 extra jackstands, so i can have the whole car off the ground. I wouldn't worry about what you get to much though. Right now the 4 jackstands i have under the 240 can support 22000 pounds all together. :)

Yeah, I am going to go Craftsman...Sears has a special right now, a 3-ton floor jack and two 3-ton jacks stands for $50...I'm gonna swing by before the sale ends on Thursday and pick em up.

Here are the part numbers...do a search at sears.com

Just make sure your jack is low enough to get to the frame even if you lower your car (NONE of my 3 jacks can, i have to use the stupid emergency jack from my trunk to get the car an inch higher before i can use my floor jack!)

haha just drive it up on to some 2x4s or somthing to get that extra inch then jak up an remove wood !

i would just go with one of those lifts or maybe just cut out the cement on the drive way dig a big arse hole an have your self your own mechanics pit!!!

i agree with slw240sx, diggin a hole in your drive way is by far the cheapest methode, if you have a handy dandy shovelizer (yourself+shovel):crazy

i got a nice set from sears this christmas..for myself. They got the rounded grip that fits perfectly under a rear axle. For the front I have a squared off version that fits better. So there are different styles (to a degree) that might fit your application better.

i have sportlines on my car. And when im on my 17's with 225/45/17 tires, i can get the jack under fine. Barely, but it fits. Good luck on the new jack/jack stands.

Got my jack and stands from Wal-mart for 25 bones, and you know what? it works as good as any jack ive used. When it comes to most things, you get what you pay for. Sometimes however, its better to be a cheap bastard!
