Hey guys I did a serach and most people that tried to floor jack their car ended up crushing those oem "slits". I need to put my car on a jack stands so I can change out to coilovers assuming they come in today. And I want to be ready for them. I tried to use the hydraulic jack from my diff, and when that thing is maxed it, its not enough to place the jack stands under the OEM lift points. Is it safe to use a hyduralic jack on the diff the whole time and just then install the coils? Or can anyone please show me a picture of a safe place to lift the car high enough to place the stands under. Thank you

What if i raised the rear from the point circled in the picture in order to place one side on a jack stand. Could I put that side on the stand then raise the other side and do she same? Thanks...

I usually lift it from the rear differential if I need to get the whole back end up. If it doesn't fit under I just use the emergency jack to bump it up an inch and then stick mine under and do it that way. Otherwise I'll jack from the part that's right behind the oem crimp thingy. It's like 3 inches wide and runs from the front of the car to the back. Though it curls up near the back, just before the wheels. I don't have a picture but you'll see it when you look under your car. It almost looks like a beam going along side the crimp.

There's really no other good place to jack up the rear of the car other than the diff. It *is not* safe to work under a car (or even close to a car) that's not supported by jack stands. You do want to keep all fingers and toes, right?

I'd be wary of using the factory emergency jack points since, as you mentioned, it's so easy to damage those welds.

Other than getting a jack that can lift the car higher, I don't really know what to tell you other than what Madbouncy said about the emergency jack.

I ended up jacking it by the diff and buying smaller jack stands. Thanks guys!

the welds were a bit damaged but they are still useable. I heard most 240 owners end up crushing theirs, so I am not too worried.

subframe mounts are a nice place for a floor jack. reinforced sections of the frame rail work too.

I don't think the crimp stuff really matters. I've crushed the hell out of mine and underground57 said his is pretty much entirely flat. Honestly, I still think it's just there to piss us off.

just jack it up as much as u can, put it on jack stands or ramps if u can, then lower the jack, put blocks under the jack, jack it up some more, and just keep raising your jack stands, ramps, blocks, etc.

would would you even try to use the stock mounting points without the correct adaptors? of course its going to squish them flat. there are much better places on the car to jack up with a floor jack, or you can buy a pretty cheap adaptor that adapts the pad of a floor jack to the nissan style jack points. do one or the other, but if you use a flat pad floor jack on the stock mounting joints, don't complain when it smashes them. its going to happen.

you can make an adaptor with a piece of wood, just cut down into it with somthing, it shouldnt touch the pinch weld, but it should hit the car were it is re-enforced

I designed a custom adapter and had a pair machined from 6061T6 aluminum. Give me a feel for who's interested and I could get a quote from a machinist for a bulk run. Wood's a lot cheaper though, but the metal ones are stronger of course. Can post pics if you want.

if you take your stock scissor jack (or any nissan, go to a junkyard), you could probably just cut the top off, weld it to a plate, and voila, instant adaptor.
