In the recent storm that went through south Florida, both of my cars got flooded  . The insurance adjuster will not be out until monday and I was wondering if I should push for both cars to be considered totaled. Both cars got a couple inches of water inside the cab and it was sitting in the water for several hours. I was trapped in my driveway with nowhere to move them to :frown: . I live near the intracoastal so I would assume to claim it as brackish water and not just pure rain water.

The Insurance company will base the damage off the estimate they get from Infiniti Dealership. Sometimes they total them out based on age and value, but if they are only a couple years old, probably will be fixed.

Dunno, seem to be a whole lotta G's on the market from Sandy and others that "supposedly" didn't even get water inside and they are being sold as salvage.

Check for a water line mark in the cab. If its really low and car start and runs fine! Buy the cars back! If they dont do anything when ignition is on...get rid of them!

Well seeing as how the driver seat in the g35 is completely encased in mold, I'm hoping that car gets totaled. The mold grew while waiting for insurance to take the car to get checked. My pickup next to the cars had water in its engine so I am betting the cars have water in the engine as well.

I am really pissed off at Infiniti right now. The dealership just called and said there is nothing wrong with the g37, they won't even replace the carpets! The carpets have been wet for over a week, this just seems ridiculous to me. The car and a good 2 inches of water in the cabin, there should be some damage. I feel like it's because the dealership recently entered into a partnership with allstate, my insurance company.

I would take the car to a reputable collision center in your area. Sometimes your insurance provider will steer you twards any shop who is on a D.R.P
(Direct repair program) I know this cuz I work at a body shop. Get anothe damage apraisal done by a independent body shop and I guarante that car will total out. Dont do a buy back if that car was submurged that deep! Your ins privider will have to pay the damage if you had that car insured with comprehesive. That policy covers natural disasters. Just have the car towed to another shop, the shop will cover the fee and will be reinbursted by the insurance company.

Yeah, if you had mud all over the seats then you will at least have electrical issues with those at some point. Did the water not get high enough to hit the electronics in the console? Sounded like you had lots of water in the vehicle.

There was several inches in the car itself, to be honest I was more focused on my house flooding and my dad being in the hospital to notice how much exactly. The surprising good news was that after talking to my insurance agent, he agreed that all of that needs to be replaced and would make a note in his files. I also called the infiniti dealership and spoke with the service manager and he was surprised at how little damage they were quoting and was going to look into it.

that's really s*** that they are not considering the cars as totaled with that amount of water flooding the cars, it'll eventually succumb to mold and mildew.
