I have a few questions for you. I just got ahold of some S14 5 lug stuff (hubs, spindles, wheels)

I saw in some old threads I searched thru that you have this same set up. I just have a few questions to make sure im going to do this right the first time.

Ok, on the rear, I see you only need the hub part of the S14 (the part that the (4)19mm bolts bolt on to the spindle) I read that it BOLTS right on the S13 spindle and you retain the S13 suspension and use the same S13 brake caliper but with the S14 5 lug brake disc.

Just want to verify that with you to make sure its right an if thats what you did.

Now for the front. It says ill need the spindle, the hub, strut bolts and ball joint. I'll have to drill my S13 strut holes to fit the S14 strut bolts thru and press out the S13 ball joint and press in the S14 one.

Many people say to press in the S14 ball joint into the S13 LCA, yet this site http://www.nissanperformancema...40sx/says to use the S14 LCA altogether.

Will the S14 front hub part bolt on to the S13 spindle?Or do I have to use the whole S14 front spindle with the hub? What about the LCA? Is that the same as the S13 one?

Sorry for all the questions :D

Holy crap, a thread thats just about a day old and Ryan hasn't posted yet....I am under the impression that you have to use the whole S14 spindle. As for the LCA I don't know, from what I understand you can use the S14 balljoint with the S13 CA. Hope some of this info helped.

from what i have read you need to use the S13 LCA with the S14 ball joint pressed into it. the reason being that the S14 LCA is longer and wont bolt up. also the S14 ball joint looks the same as the S13, but really isnt. i dont really remember about the spindle tho. as far as the back end goes, all you need is the hub assembly from a Z32, S14, or any skyline. the hub bolts right on to the rear spindles with no mods. i plan on doing the conversion on just the back end so i can get some good sized wheels.

I feel bad. It's like I've let you all down :( . But I was out gettting drunk, looking at boobies and I got a # so I hope you all understand...

Answers...

for the rears, there are 4 bolts that hold the hub in, it swaps right over, slick as snot. NO work nessicary.

for the fronts, you CANNOT use the S14 LCA, it's too long and ur anti-sway bar and T/C rod won't line up. Press the S14 Ball Joint into the S13 LCA. Do that and you'll be golden

What did you use to press the new ball joints in. Im going to swap the rears on sunday since its easy. The front, I dont know how to go about the ball joint part. My friend had said to use a small socket and a hammer if I wanted to do it the ol' fashioned way.

I rented a ball joint press from O'Reily's. It was something rediculous like $200, but they give it all back when you return the thing. It's basically like a BIG C-clamp with some differenty sized cylnder shaped things. Pretty simple, but practiaclly impossible without it.

i would think you could take both control arms with the ball joints to a machine shop or repair shop. they should be able to do it for relatively cheap as it wont take long and isnt very difficult with a press.

You can do that too, but renting the press and doing it yourself if free! (besides the cost of the ball joint...)

Just a little heads up, the rear hubs on my car did not come out easily. We had to remove the entire hub/knuckle (it's not called a spindle in the rear btw) w/ LCA (tried to avoid balljoint damage) and put it in a press to get the hubs out.

Also, the write up in nissanperformacemag is not correct...it's a misprint.

As Float said, rent the ball joint press. I rented mine from autozone...$100 core (you get it all back as well), worked perfect. You should also have a set of pitch forks with you and a BFH.

Oh, and don't be a retard like me and order strut bolts from Nissan but forget to order the nuts. :rolleyes

That wasn't me being mean......And you being a mod doesn't scare me, it terrifies me!!! Speaking of me being terrified, I got a call today from some guy in KC. He needs a new KA, I thought of you and said that I knew someone with a motor and he wants to buy it. On top of that he said that he would pay someone for the install. Let me know if you want a quick $600-$1000. Told him I would do the install with the motor for that much. If you want the deal I would be more than happy to pass it on to ya! Just let me know if you want it!

Oh yeah, what in the name of sam hell did you do to become a mod?

I just finished taking the rear hubs off the S14 today. They fell right out after removing the 4 19mm bolts. Hopefully my S13 ones will fall out the same way.

Holy crap the S13 rear hubs didnt fall out like the S14 ones did.

I rented a 5 ton puller and forced that sucker out.

Now the rear wheels are on and it looks awsome!

I cant wait for the front.

Hey Aaron, that sounds like a deal, but was the guy wanting a KA24E or DE? I've only got a E.

The rears are a cakewalk, wait till you get to the front...

Doesn't matter, he has an S14 thats riced out but he loves his 240. He said that he just wants a new engine in it. He was telling me about all his drifting experiences in his auto-neoned out-ricer S14. I figure that it doesn't really matter since he just loves it and wants it back on the road. He didn't know about the differences between the DE and the E. He told me that if it fits and its supposed to go in the car then he'll take it.

Well if he wants the motor he's welcome to it, but I'm not sure how that wiring is going to be, PLUS that motor is SHOT. It WILL NEED new rings, distributor, exhaust mani, and maybe a new head. Depends if we can get the studs out of it since they're broken off inside of it.

they do it to at least half of the CA threads;) and it takes up too much damn time to delete posts... I should just be able to delete 10 at once, instead of each one individually:pface
