OK long story short. I was replacing the screen/filter, under the fuel inlet on the front of the carb. 85 nissan 2WD pickup. 2.4L. I was broke down on the road at the time, and troubleshooting... ended up being fuel pump... but....when I was replacing the needle seat above the float, the needle was in a bind.. and pushed down the little tab on the float almost into my float... at the time,on the side of the road) I couldn't get those 3 screws loose that hold the float cover on. So when I put it all back together..new fuel pump. it was flooding. Luckily my fuel pump is on a toggle switch, so just to get it home. I got it started, and drove for 7seconds with the fuel pump off, then I would switch it on for 1-2 seconds, back off, 7-8 sec. back on and so forth. Made it home, got the 3 screws loose, and readjusted the float lvl.. Everything seems to be ok. But I have noticed that the fuel lvl in the little glass window is sligtly lower than before I messed up the float. My question is should I take it back apart and bend the tab down a lil more to get it back to where it was? Also. Truck is running and driving ok. but It acts like it wants to die at idle, like it's idling lower or something. and i didn't touch anything but the fuel inlet. Would the fuel level in the bowl affect the idling? I had to take the float cover off at least 10 times to get it right. Apparently the needle pushed the tab down further than I thought, And it was either flooding or not letting fuel in. Basically a trial and error.. over and over again. Before there was fuel a little over 3/4 of the was up the glass, and now it at exactly 1/2 on the glass window. Thanks for the help.

No one knows about the float adjustments in a 720?

if the fuel is at the middle of the glass you should be fine. There are other things that could be involved.

What else could cause the hiccup during acceleration? It's not bad at all, and it doesn't ever do it unless I really push the gas. The truck is a 85' 2WD,2.4L, manual trans. I've checked and rechecked my vac lines, used spray to spray all of them down listening for any change in the idle speed. I;ve made sure all my wires are hooked up in the right order on the plugs, I know the fuel pressure is good. It is almost like the mixture is leaning out when I mash the gas. Ive read tons of other post about people saying it happens to them under load and stuff, but all the solutions that worked for others, dont seem to be my problem. One guy said unplugging his ECU, and another said unplugging one of his exhaust coil.... I dunno. One thing strange... I never noticed this before I changed the plugs. The plugs that were in it were NGK's and I put Autolite platinum's in it. I've read I should only use NGK or OEM's with the 720, but can anyone confirm? Thanks for the help boatman. Love your cab build section to BTW. :yesnod

Sounds like its the accelerator pump or a vacuum leak. Could be both or one or the other. Get a carb kit and replace the accelerator pump. It's pretty easy. Try and hunt down any vacuum leak.
