I have a 90 240, and my flip up headlights just stop working out of no where, does that mean that the motor on it burnt out, or is there some kind of easy fix for it

Nice poll =)

Check your fuses, if nothing, check the relays.

could be fuses, could be relays, could be motors, or it could be the headlight switch on the column itself.

If you need motors or headlight relays (the ones by the intake) I should have the whole set in a couple weeks, I got a spare set in case mine blew up, but mine are fine again.

If you want to check if it's the motors, get a multimeter.

Disconnect the connector to the headlight motor.

Use a multimeter and check each wire/spade for voltage - I'm telling you to do this bcs I'm not sure which wire is suppose to be powered.

Get a friend to push the headlight up/down button.

Probe each spade/wire during the down/up phase, I guess 1 wire per 2 phases.

If 1 wire responds to up & 1 wire responds to down, your motor is probably the culprit since proper voltage was sent that far.

If no wires responded to anything, then it maybe a relay/fuse.

Makes sense to me, should work, not 100% tho, bcs I fixed my problem - was some messed up wire when someone else tried to fix another problem.

well i went to the junkyard and replaced all the relays that have to do with the headlights and i even replaced that black timer box in the drivers side kickpanel and they still wont go down. they'll go up , but not down. Do you guys think that since my high beams dont work that this is the cause???

i've even cleaned up all the ground wires on my car.

I know i probably just breathed life back into and old thread but if you still have a driver side headlight motor, I'm interested. thankyou search button
