Anybody have any opinions on these? Which one would you choose (or have you chosen) and why?

My purpose is to store my pictures somewhere other than my computer, but I do want to keep them inaccessible to anybody except when and who I want to see them - like friends and family - although I would want to have the occasional one linked to threads (like in NICO for example).

And, of course, I want them stored in the original format (resolution, size, quality ... bit for bit!) of the pictures as they are on my computer.

Comments?

I use the bucket. It works. They keep adding features I never asked for and don't want, but I'm a curmudgeonly old fart.

I still use Photobucket personally, but I have an account for both. A lot of people love Flickr, but I haven't really found myself wanting to use it yet.

I prefer Imageshack over Photobucket, especially after some of PBs weird redesign choices. I've got a Flickr account but never use it.

I HATE, HATE, HATE the new photobucket but I'm kinda screwed into staying with them. If I leave, all the links to pictures I have posted on the forum will be broken. I have a flickr acct but i've never used it

You don't have to "leave" photobucket, just leave the account open and don't use it anymore.

Here's the current breakdown. I say current because their policies and crap change all the time.
Photobucket- smallish maximum amount they'll let you store for free. Current layout sucks Osama's beard. Pics are resized/compressed.
Flickr- No maximum amount that I'm aware of, however they only let you upload so much per month (like 300mb I think). Good image quality, minimal compression (if any). They layout is still a bit weird to me.

Old photobucket was AWESOME. The layout was simple, they had an insane amount of free upload space, etc. The only downside was their compression/image quality (which really wasn't that bad).

I'm giving google+ a try for now. There's no upload limit and they just seriously upgraded their photo hosting abilities. I uploaded all my carlisle pics to them, which look good, although they aren't their original size. I also had some skips and issues while uploading (I think it was a java problem or something).

If you're going to pay for a service, I'd say go with flickr.

We already pay for photobucket. I maximized the free limit long ago.

I think you can just stop paying for it and leave all your current pics on there... you just wont be able to upload any more. That's the boat I'm currently in.
