hello again all! i am wondering if any of u guys have experienced this.... today i was pulling into my garage and the lights luminated the back wall as usual but i noticed that the drivers side xenon appeared to flicker a little bit... not alot like a strobe light or anything but enough for me to notice. now when i put the car in park the flickering immediately stopped but after about a minute it started again. this is only the drivers side headlight the passenger side is fine, does this mean that the light is dying ? i really dont mind the flickering as it's not really noticable but i would like to replace the light if its going to die soon because nothing is skechier than driving with a headlamp out lol

that's almost sounds like a bad ground more so than issue with the bulb. Maybe check your battery terminals and clean any corrosion off them as a start?

thanx for input guys! i will check the battery... but would it not be both lights flickering if it was a battery problem? Tampa- u make it sound very easy lol... i'm not much of a gear head, i dont know if i would want to take on such a task i'd prolly rather pay a professional ya kno? like i said it doesnt really bother me or really effect the light while i drive but if it was a sign that the light was aging or about to go i would most certainly want to get it replaced before it happened

It could have been the AC kicking on...are you sure it was just the drivers side?

Tampa is right the first thing to check would be the connection in the back of the bulb.If you do attempt this yourself IT IS CRUCIAL THAT YOU DO IT WITH THE LIGHTS OFF and ideally with the battery disconnected.

Sometimes the connections wiggles loose, maybe your headlight has been JB welded back together and there is a small hole and water has started to corrode your ballast. There are numberous things that will cause this.

Welcome to NICO!

Check the ballast first. Also be sure not to touch the actual bulb. They get hot and skin oils can ignite.

You can also check all of your grounds to see if they are corroded, or add a grounding kit (see my sig) which would yield other benefits in addition to getting rid of the TYPICAL kind of flickering.

To me, it sounds like electrical noise.

It has to be at the light or the rest of the lights and electronics would be doing the same!

Can one of you boys place a link to show how to get the the light from the tire cover!

i really appreciate all the input guys! and so nobody thinks that this is a serious problem? just a corroded something or other that comes with age/wear? i'm not really all that OCD about my car so its not something i will mess with unless it starts effecting my driving and stuff.... so yeah nobody thinks i should have it checked out by the dealer?

I had the same problem and I changed the bulb and everything is fine now...Cant promise that ur bulb is bad... But when my thing was flickering I was thinking of the worst. Ballast etc.... I was already calling people that have g35 ballasts... and then I was bored and I have bunch of xenon 4300k bulbs I changed it and it stopped.

update: i am certain now that it responds to the idle speed of the car... as i watched it flicker a bit as i geared into reverse... what this means i do not know... as i said b4 i really dont know much about cars, i just know the basics. i am not going to rush it into the dealer at this point. i plan to wait another month or so as i will have alot more money and i would like other servicing done to the car as well as new tires so i will just knock it all out at once. on that note what would u guys recomend for a 60k miles service? i plan to have oil and fluids changed filters and tune up etc... what else should i ask for them to do? (keep in mind i'm not really concerned by how much it will cost i just want to keep my car in top shape) thank u guys again!

Tell them to put a new motor, transmission, and everything that has been used for 60k miles in the car

I am a firm believer if you just drive it... and keep oil and fluids clean it will last a long time!

I know from experience with after-market HIDs that when the light starts flickering, it's typically the ballast as mentioned by several other people.
