I have an 05 Altima that I installed LED tail lights on back in March. I was taking a picture of my car this evening when I noticed three of the LED bulbs are not as bright as the others and do not brighten when the brakes are applied. This is what it looks like with the brakes applied:

The three at the top left of the area are the dim ones (obviously). Anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this? They either stay dull or flicker when I push on the brake pedal.

Let me know if anyone knows how to fix this. The inside of the lighting unit is identical to an OEM tail light, so in order to get to these tiny bulbs, I'd have to remove the plastic to get to the LED circuit board. Lord, I hope there is another way to fix this!

Please help!

Swap the 2 tail lights. See if the same LED's are out on the passenger side, when you connect the drivers side to it. If the problem doesn't exist with the drivers side tail light connected to the passenger wires, then the problem is in the passenger light housing. If the problem transfers from side to side, look at the connector and wiring. May be a chafing point. You may just want to buy a new one if its the light. Thats gonna be a hassle to break open and rewire.

Oh sweet mother - not an answer I was looking for. It took them a month to get here because they ship from Japan. Maybe they'll just flicker themselves brighter and stay that way. I'll try tomorrow while I'm pulling out my gauges to change the orange and after I replace my headlight.

One thing I notice is that alot of 3rd generation altimas have burnt brake lights (mostly on the passenger's side). I wonder if this a power issue which could cause your aftermarket led bulbs?

I've had a brake/taillight combo blow out only once, and it just so happened to have been on my passenger side. However, it blew out for it's first time in the stock tail lights after I had put 87,000 miles on the car. But that's a good call out to pay attention to. If I can't figure it out, I'll have my electrics man Chad look at it and see what he can figure out. The only thing that sucks is that in order to fix it, I'd probably have to bake the light to access the LED board - not looking forward to that at all!

Are the tail lights assembled with the same hard A$$ silicone they used on the head lights?

Yeah, of course. I guess I'm going to have to bake the damn thing and take out the circuit board with the tiny LEDs attached. PS - tomorrow I should be able to install my Oznium tube lights, as soon as my Eibach kit is installed
