Hello my name is Rob and I'm new here. I'm writing to try and help out a buddy with a new Versa. We know it can be flat towed behind his motor home but there is very little towing info in the manual. His manual only states that he should put it in neutral. There is no other info such as key position, fuses to pull, distance you can travel before starting engine up etc etc. We'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has info and or personal experience in this case. Thank you.

I'm pretty sure you can just tow it while its in N and the e-break is down. I would start it up every now and then (pit stops) but other then that it should be just fine.

MY dealer told me not to tow it from the back so that the front wheels are on the ground because it will screw up the transmission, and he told me flatbads and towing while front wheels up is best way, but then I guess its pretty safe to say u can tow while on neutral because when I went to a carwash they put it on neutral and it went on that rolling machine were it rolled the car, no clue on when you should turn on the car though

Towing the car with all four wheels on the ground at highway speeds is not comparable to carwashes. A carwash actually places the two front wheels in a cradle, which pulls the car forward (the wheels never actually spin). I would recommend a car dolly for this guy, because it is not yet known how much damage can be done to a CVT transmission while flat-towing. If the car has a manual trans, I don't see the harm.

I agree, a towing dolly would be the best. Especially if it's an automatic or CVT.

In the car manual it does state that flat towing with the CVT & Auto trans is OUT OF THE QUESTION. In regard to the 6spd? There are things (bearings, etc) in the trans that still roll around & need lubrication even when in neutral. Dolly tow is best, I agree. Also before buying the car I would of checked without question if you could flat tow. There are a few cars/suvs out there that can: Saturns, some Suzukis (my Dad is an RV owner & reads up on that stuff).
