Hello all, i created a flat spot and sev small nicks on my crank pulley, the harmonic balancer by using a chain strap ie following the Haynes book etc..can/should file the edgesndown thus removing the sharp edges so it doesnt eat a belt or spend the bones either OEM or ebay $100-$120 for a replacement!?..im in the middle if the head gasket job..yes i pulled the motor etc..ive a 2001.5 (mid-yr) Nissan 3.5 SE MANUAL 5spd 4x4 ..im realizing alot of the needed parts are specific FOR THE MANUAL 5spd 4x4 set up..ive relied on this site for the IACV ECM debacle and the engine removal process..any advice will be greatly appreciated ..comsidering its the crank pulley vs any other pulley im leaning towards a replacement as to be certain i dont get stranded w/ a shredded belt..

Personally, I'd dress the edges with a triangular file and some 80-grit afterwards, but I'm a cheapass. :)

Ok thanks..just dont know how well the filing method would work until I drive it, nor how hard those steel grooves are until I spend some beverage-time on those ridges..so it's not a crazy off the wall idea etc..dig it
