My 92 Q45a recently went flat. As it turns out the struts were blown out and at least 2 of the accumulators were leaking badly. I called Ty at T3 in Atlanta, he told me that they could do a conversion to a standard suspension system.

It was a little more than I wanted to spend, but it was the best money I have spent in a long time. In addition to doing a killer job on my car, I was able to get a couple of other items from T3 while I was there. The guys at T3 even installed the parts I wanted off another Q! In addition to the better ride, my car get better milage and stops better than ever.

These guys really know what they're doing, I believe 3 of the 4 guys have early model Q themselves. Their customer service is great, and their labor rate is about half of what the Infiniti dealer in Memphis charges.

I am already planning another trip to get my chain guides done. Anyone who is considering an active suspension conversion or new chain guides should consider going to T3. Their prices are fair, they have a great deal of Q45 knowledge, and they are very easy to deal with.

I'll fix my active, rather than converting it, and I personally would have done the chain guides first.

Is there someone in Austrailia that can fix active suspensions?

The active option was far more common in JDM versions.

Um ... no mention of having your chain guides replaced?

Thanks for the T3 testimonial. It's really a great shop!

Yeah, me!

Actually, the parts I require for the job come from the US.Keith Bowers (texasoil) recharges the accumulators. All you have to do is swap them over.Probably works out cheaper than the conversion too.

zerothread/230687http://forums.nicoclub ... htmlsearch for "texasoil" and read up on what he has to say about the active suspension. I know it's too late now, but oh well....

You know whats scary is that if certain members of this forum were to disappear, pass away, etc, a lot of our cars would become boat anchors.

Maybe Dennis and Keith should have bodyguards.

Nah... cheaper to just buy a Honda.

Well since you mentioned it...

"1996 Acura Integra (green 4 door w/ spoiler, tinted windows, power windows & locks, A/C, 10 disk CD changer, moon-roof, 5 speed manual transmission) in good condition126,000 miles$1500

Please call or email if interested."

Ad was placed on electronic bulletin board here at work and I'm test driving tomorrow. Should be a nice lil gas saver for the trip back/forth to work. Good price + female (atty) driven.

Unless you have a couple trashed actuators (struts). But, yeah, I always growl quietly to myself when someone says they've "converted" their active. Sheesh, buy a non-active, then.

I got that covered.

you're right, I should have bought the non-active. When I purchased the car, I knew very little about the Q's. Thanks to this forum, I am learning more and more.

Glad to hear that your car is back in shape. A positive experience like that is refreshing. My active is still in need of actuator work, but then it should be good. Please post a few pics when you get a chance. I'd love to see you car.

Raulr, I also live in Iowa, straight south of Des Moines, right next to the Missery border. I have both an Active and non Active Q. Anything in particular you're trying to have done?

If the struts are leaking, those are the actuators. The accumulators are the little cylinders attached to the struts (toward the bottom of the struts) with 3 bolts.

Down Under does have a FEW active folks. Depends on whats wrong regarding repairs. Run the diagnostics and email me, or go to my webstore site 'activesuspensionsystems.com'. I have helped a couple of blokes get active again.

leaking 'actuators' are NORMAL. ANY hydraulic cylinder has to leak some.Question is how much is too much? Most actuator leaks with flat accumulators (no suspension travel) stop when the accumulators are replaced. Please go to 'activesuspensionsystems.com' and read the stuff there. LINO in eastern Canada is trying to source replacement seals for the actuators. I tried to get a bloke down under to help me out--a shop there resealed his actuators. Alas no response.

Replacing the seal on the actuator is very easy to do once the strut assembly is removed and taken apart--maybe 20 min max beyond R&R the strut and replacing the 'boots'.I have detailed photos showing how (once I find replacement seals.)

I think since I'm using my '93 non active now, I may go ahead and tear down the rear leaking actuators on my '92 since they're leaking a substantial amount. There's a local shop that fixes all of our tractor hydraulic cylinders. They can order in about anything and they're very "MacGyver" about fixing oddball things. I'll see if they can get an appropriate seal.

Keep us updated Scott. I'm working very hard on my side too. Let me know if I can help. BTW I believe the original seal may be made by KYB.

Was that utilizing used parts? The conversion parts from Joe are around 1400
