does anyone do it with there rb transmission? I have been doing it off and on for the past month(maybe 3 times) to see what good it will do and it seems to like it. today i was able to chirp 3rd pretty good.

-are there any pros and cons do doing this(heard it cuts down on 1/4 mile time?-does it cause premature damage?-What is the max hp that im able to do this?

Flat foot shifting??

You mean powershifting? Meaning not taking your foot off the gas when going into the next gear?

you will break the trans. especially on the 2-3 shift. done it first hand to a 25 trans. don't do it unless you want to spend money. learned my lesson doing it to band-aid a bog issue on shifts (maf problem). sheared off a bunch of teeth for 3rd gear

*shakes head*

have fun rebuilding your transmissions.

if you honestly feel that much of a need to shave .1 off your 1/4 time you are in the WAY wrong car to begin with.

no $hit! why would you be slamming the 2-3 shift like that to save next to nothing off you time.. on top of the wear n tear on your transmission!!!!!

I would think the sounds from power shifting would be enough to diagnose premature damage. Its a costly endeavor.

Am I the only person on earth that double clutches every manual they own? Has anyone else here ever even driven a straight cut trans with no syncros?

I drive a mazda b series and dc it every shift, I get s*** from everybody about it but I can drive my buddies bimmer wayyyy better than he can, plus I have had 2 syncros grinding for years and they haven't gone yet, still don't make a sound when I shift well.

Get a good set of soft compound tires and you wont "chrip" any gear.... I get a bug up my a** about that saying...

I see your shying away from doing so and that is the best idea. Wont cause you anything but problems, the only thing I've ever flat foot shifted was my 235k DD Subie Wagon, that was on my way to the junk yard. Clutch slipped, then grabbed.

I do it at the track or during a pull on the street....yes its not good for the transmission but oh well. My trans will prob blow up with or without me doing it so why not have some fun in the process

btw, I do it to reduce my lag time...even if a little bit, it still makes me fell better.

Like i told a c-worker today, when i "what ever shifted" it doesnt make a sound and feels great but when i shift without flat footshifting/ps'ing it grinds. its kinda weird. im starting to think there is something wrong with my transmission as well. I changed to the mt90/liteweight shock about 2 months ago and it made all weirdness in my transmission dissapear.

i have: lite weight flywheel and act pressure plate/spec 6 puck sprung.factory clucth slave.

it absolutly suxs that its not good cause when doing so the car never falls out of boost.....hint hint foot still on the gas. it beats a 1500 dollar th400 conversion with rachet shifter....

it wasnt long ago that i some some sick 350z tt making like 500-600 on pump ps'ing and said that was the max on that transmission as far as flat footing...?

Shocker: i just got rid of my BFG ta/sports..they where super sticky.

I have made prob 60-75 track passes Flatshifting every gear.

1st off make sure you have a Good clutch that will fully disengage therfore taking all pressure off the trans and NOT KILLING it. As for the slave make sure you have a good durable one. Im running the Cusco exedy stg 4 twin disk clutch and a 15$ napa slave cylinder. I flat shift on the street usually when I give someone a ride. I have been for 4 yrs now. no Grinding or problems out of my trans.

I have the Megasquirt setup so that it reads my clutch switch and it will flatshift and keep my boost built up no matter how long I take to shift it. Its an option on there that I like alot. It never lets me drop below 5500rpm and I never drop more than 2psi when shifting.

Yiu can do it without problems. You just need the supporting equipment.

Good luck with gizzmo. The 3 units I had were all junk. It had my ignition all screwed up.

Honestly I have never messed with act products so I don't know how good they are. Im sure someone on here knows tho.

i love act. i have used nothing but act in all my past vehicles and swore to never use anything else. i wanted to try a spec clucth kit b/c it seems that everyone liked them not to mention they had a sick s14 body 240sx(blue).

im not messing with the gizzmo b/c i did see how much trouble you had with it.

i have a random question for ya rb25drag what kind of line lock are you using at the moment??

Must not be, when I had BFG somethings, directional but harder compound, it would chirp 4th on the track w/o flat foot shifting, I could also burn straight through second on most roads.

Switched to RE-01's quite as could be while I was just wasting rubber/bangin gears w/o a peep from them. Same with my ET streets, and BFG drags. Not soft enough sorry.

rb25drag have you ever changed your trans fluid and checked the magnetic drain?

Used to do it with my sr trans. Had over 500hp and 400tq. Used a ignition cut limiter on the clutch switch and MT ET street radials. Did this so I didn't have to worry about spool up with the 67mm turbo. Was really surprised it never broke anything. Used royal purple syncromax fluid which is only a 10w trans oil. Never grinded or anything.

I use a Hurst Line lock.

Since the 240's have 2 brake lines for the front brakes you gotta use a T for the linelock to work correct. I love mine tho. Saves your Brakes and makes Burnouts ALOT easier at the track.

Sure have, I changed it about 4months ago and the magnet was clean as a Whistle. Im using The NAPA 85w90 weight gear oil. Never had a Problem so far LOL

i removed that shyncromax from my rb transmission about 3 months ago. it still had the same old grind from 2nd to 3rd and then developed a grind from 3rd to 4th.

i swicthed the to liteweight/mt-90 and everything was perfect. then the 3rd to 4th came back. now when i think about it the 2-3rd might be back as well. ill c tonite when i come out.

some launch controllers have a "no lift" shift function. Look into those i bet its alot less destructive on your trans
