Flash Project, need help!! Please

Ok, for our final project in my webmastering class, we are using Flash. We have to make a 5 minute movie that has multiple layers and uses sound. I wanted to use video clips and do a nice composition like some other guys have done on the site. My problem is, what kinda movie clips can be used that way in Flash, and how would you go about doing that. My teacher doesnt know how to do it and neither does our assistant webmaster. I was going to go with AVI files since we use them in our projects using quick time as a player. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

when you download flash, you get an incredible walkthrough file with it, it basically teaches you how to use every function flash has to offer, its pretty neat if you have a few spare hours.

haha, the game is really cool. and the seamonster looks like this heavy metal music video i made. animation level was abou the same. I'll check the tutorial. i think i can use AVI files and have them fade into each other. we have Quciktime on all the PCs in the lab so it should be no trouble. Also, i need video clips, if any of you have some, post em and i'll put you in the credits. thanks again.
