Hi:
2003 pathfinder
The cruise is flashing (quickly) and none of the brake lights work.
I have checked the brake lights fuse (10amp)
Checked the lights.
About the only thing left (I have 0 mechanical knowledge ) is the brake switch
When I press the brake while in P(ark) I hear a switch clicking, which unlocks the selection to Drive and Neutral, etc.
Would that be on the same switch?
If not, I have located the brake switch (I think) but really don't find it that accessible.
Is there a trick to get it out so it can be checked?
Anything else I can do or check?

The service engine soon light came on quite a while after the cruise didn't work any more, but that might be because of towing the boat I think.
Any tips would be appreciated, thank you.

Your stop light switch is broken, replace it. You are likely throwing a P1805 BRAKE SWITCH code, but I will not advise you to get the code(s) pulled at an auto parts store since your brake lights don't work. See page EC-705 of the factory service manual for a diagnostic procedure to confirm it's the stop light switch.

Right on it meant after 2 weeks, returned from being away working.
Bit tired and not too mechanical inclined I was happy to get the new switch out and in in 2 hrs :)
I had an appt set up with a work shop just in case.
All done and checked the results....none :)
Checked fuses again....sigh, 1 faulty.
Replaced and brake lights worked, but not the cruise ctrl.
Took all the fuses out and checked......all ok, but now the cruise worked.
I mainly use the pathfinder to pull the boat so the last fuelling was more than a month ago, maybe 2, and I thought I'd re do the fuel cap just in case that caused the service eng lt to be on.
Now the fuel lid wouldn't open. Neither would the back window. Checked fuse and now this one was faulty.
Replaced, all ok now except for the eng lt.
But it comes on usually after towing. Sure it will go away..
I kind of enjoyed doing it all myself. Good learning experience.

So now the only issue is the "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" light illuminated? If so, you can get engine codes pulled for free at most auto parts stores. Have them pulled and post the code(s) here so we can help you diagnose the problem. :)
