So last summer I had my windshield replaced, and im not sure how they put the trim back on (but I know it wasnt replaced), but now its starting to come up.. it sticks up enough to look stupid AND cause wind noise on the highway!

Its worst where the 2 pieces meet at the top center of the windshield.

Has anyone replaced windshield trim? Any recommended fixes?

I don't know the details of doing something like this, but you may want to call the same place and ask them about replacing it. It may be half of what you spent considering your not getting a new windshield.

You mean the rubber's just coming undone from the top center? Or it doesn't fit all the way around? If it's just getting split up top, I would just glue it back in place. I've already done this with a waterproof glue.

And there is rubber under that trim.

But Q45tech is correct it is difficult to get the old trim to fit well.

Actually only the 94-96 had the chrome. I would think the shop that replaced the windshield would take care of that for you - especially since it was just done a few months ago. If it's anything like the 90-93 the windshield has to be removed to fix it, and it's at least a 50/50 chance of breaking the glass to do it.

If your insurance paid for the work, you probably have a better chance of getting it done at no charge. Most glass shops are bound by their contract with the insurer to have a lifetime warranty on their work...

The chrome trim is held in place with plastic clips that look like small crossbows spaced about 6" apart (IIRC) around the window perimeter. They're pretty fragile to begin with and 15+ years of weather makes them IMHO a one-time use item. Expect to break a few if you ever remove the window trim.

My guess is the window installer didn't replace any of the clips that may have broken during the chrome trim removal. When I parted out the 94Q, removal of this trim piece was easy, getting it back on was impossible without replacement fasteners. Your auto glass shop should have an assortment of universal replacement fasteners and the R&R should be pretty quick since they can do the entire windshield replacement in less than an hour.

Take it back to the shop that installed the glass and ask them to fix it or pay a few bucks and go to any auto glass shop close to school for a quick repair.

Had the same issue on my MB SEC. It is exactly as Mike stated. The windscreen installer came back to my marina from Miami to satisfy my complaint. Now that's service.

just so everyone knows, I bought a tube of black RTV and that so far has worked great, low wind noise and it looks pretty good (could have been better but not bad for $3)

If anyone wants pics let me know.
