Here's the situation - the outer edge is worn bald, the inner edge is nearly new (~70% tread), the wear is progressive across the tire - since I fixed the broken strut mount, it is riding on the 2/3 of the tire that still has decent tread. (I had the tires flipped on the rim to even out the wear before I found the problems.)

Money is a little tight so I don't want to run out and buy new tires if I can get some miles out of these, but I am wondering if I am stressing the bearings by driving on tires worn this way, sort of beveled inside-out. I know the lack of shoulder is not good for handling so I am taking corners very easy.

I can't imagine that causing any excessive wear on the bearings. Sounds like you need an alignment though...

check this ...(damn i miss the bronx). untill you actually replace those front tires(even with used ones) you cannot be positive that your alignment issues have been addressed. any backyard mech can "eyeball" an alignment but to get it right you must have good tires . as for your bearings...well they almost always go bad due to wear , tear , and time but never due to tires
