So after my whole turbo build (with IHI WRX turbo) my car kinda ran weird, dead spots in accel, and had a sticky throttle (sticks up, not down). Also, my TPS reading was wayy off on my E-01 (read like 8% at idle and 0 throttle). Today I went to a junkyard and pulled a throttle body and TPS off an SE hatchback with 176k on her. I cleaned the everliving hell out of the TB, making sure to remove all of the carbon ring around the butterfly, and unclogged the coolant passageway. Slapped that puppy on and everything is smooth as butta! just in time for me to leave the country for a year.

im gonna miss her

just thought id share my 240 story for the day.

Good luck to you and a safe trip back! Maybe it will stay running when you get home.

yeah... i give it a 50/50 chance it will run correctly when I get home. Speaking of storage, I hear this new gas (in RI) with ethanol is horrible for storage. Does anyone know of a good method for storing (besides draining the tank)? fuel stabilizer?

Yea there is some stuff that you could buy that will help. The other problem is going to be seals for the turbo. They will dry rot if you don`t occasionaly crank the engine.

STA-BIL® Fuel Stabilizer

I have used this for my lawnmower.

damnitbobby, i feel you on the cant keep it running aspect... it seems like there is always 3 things wrong with this car... if you fix any number of them, more problems will arise.

After parking my car at a tire-pros while i went to pick up an auto enclosure to keep the 240 in while im gone, I came back and the damn thing wont start! no clicking no cranking no turning over, nothing. All electronics work and there is good battery power (auto seatbelts moving fast)... I dont think the starter is getting power. I tried hitting it with a wrench and nothing. Pop started the ***** and drove it to the place where ill be keeping it. After driving it, it still wouldnt start, so what do you guys think... starter, relay, fuse? I made sure the clutch switch was indeed depressed fully.

LOL, Yea boosting a car that is over 10 years old is going to cause some headaches.

Make sure that the cable attached to the starter is tight and a connection to the solenoid is good. If you got good connections then my guess your solenoid has gone bad. Probably need to take the starter off and have autozone or advance check it out and test it. At least if you do that you will know if it is a starter or solenoid problem.

There is a website some guy made when he stored his s13 hatch for like 2 years. He did it right and came back to a running car. I couldnt find the link but i found these from another post.

Dude when exactly are you leaving? Lemmie know.

A good way to keep your car in good shape while youre gone would be to lend it to me. I'll make sure that she doesnt go to waste. :D

Fiz, Im leaving today... in a couple minutes actually. The 240 is in storage, but hey, if you want to put a new starter in it, put new tires on it, and get her tuned (probably gonna have to replace the fuel filter too), then go ahead! right now the boost controller isnt hooked up, so Im running factory WRX 7.5psi. Oh, it needs an alignment too... tends to shake between 55ish and 70. Really smooth up around 90 though. I just washed and waxed her, and filled the tank with a V-power/STA-BIL mix.

I have skype if anyone wants to talk for free (Skype name james.sisson)
