I bought my 91 Ka 6 years ago, I only use it for Autocross here in Florida and never had a cooling issue until last summer. The clutch fan was cracked so I replaced it with the Flex a Lite 345 thinking it would fix the issue. What was weird was the car would run normal temps around town even with the A/C on, but it would heat up to 205 or so on the highway. There sure be plenty of air going through the rad at 70mph to cool the engine.

I noticed last week the rad was seeping a little coolant around the lower tank so I ordered a CXracing 2 row aluminum rad. When I replaced it today I was shocked to see that my stock rad was plugged up big time ! It was caked up with a ton of crud, not sure where it came from but was most likely there when I bought the car.

How this car wasn't overheating on 90 degree days with the A/C on just blows my mind. And what's really weird is the A/C condenser in front of the rad wasn't dirty at all, so I'm guessing the condenser has been replaced ?

Anyhow thought I'd share in case anyone has the same issue.

Wow. You probably have some damn good coolant.

bro... It looks like you could have just cleaned the radiator, reinstalled it, topped off your coolant, and then bleed your excess air.
Would have been cheaper. But upgrading is always more exciting. xP

Yup, if I had known the stock rad was plugged, I would've cleaned up the stock radiator and bled the system. I couldn't see the blockage because it was between the rad and condenser. Plus the stock rad was weeping a bit in the lower corner tank, so it needed to be replaced. ;)

Now my issue is that it runs a bit to cool, but come in the Florida summer, it should be just fine.
