I took my car down to my local shop and had one of the RB guys check out my problem, which was the car had no balls above 5k rpm. He turned the CAS nearly all the way too the left and now the car pulls hard to redline. The guys at this shop specialize in RB's So i do trust them , but it seems kinda crazy to have had to adjust the CAS that drastically to fix the problem. When my engine was installed, the shop reccomended spark plugs one step colder. could that have anything to do with it? (different shop that installed it)

wow timing advance ownz j00.i hope that your base timing is right, i would check it because overadvanced timing could mean a few new paper weights if it detonates.it is wholy possible that the base timing was wrong all the time causing no power but you would have noticed other side effects like bad gas mileage, no power, and sluggish throttle response.

uh did they just turn the CAS or actually hook up a timing light and time the engine?

just turning the cas is stupid. you have no idea what your timing is at.

i'm currently going through that problem. You timing belt probably needs to be adjusted or check your ecu. It will detonate on you. Also get some new plugs and run you car then pull each plug to see if all cylinders are combusting.

yeah how is that coming mario?

Glad you got your car running right... MAKE SURE THE SET TIMING CORRECTLY!! Its not just a turn and tighten procedure, it'll detonate if its too far advanced.-Alex

Yeah, i thought it was a little scary adjusting the CAS without a timing light. I am gonna call around some local shops to see if i can get it set properly. What should it be set at? 18 degrees?

I am willing to bet base timing is off. my car gets about 170 miles to a tank of premium. A local shop is going to set it for me for around 30-70 bucks. Its an rb20det that was an auto and is now a 5-speed. still on the auto ecu which i have heard tends to run rich on a manual. but i only heard that on SDU. but i am pretty sure the auto ecu also does not have a speed limiter that the manual ecu's have.

on the subject of the auto ECU, do you idle high? (1000) I was running an auto ECU and could never get the idle to drop there is a specific wire you need to ground, then retime the engine and the idle drops to normal. car ran alot different afterwords.

yeah, without after the swap, the car idled steadily at 900-1000 rpm. I adjusted the idle and now it has a bouncing idle between 700-800 rpm. I unplugged the brown connecter, and adjusted idle , then plugged the connecter back on. hope i did it right. Wich wire needs to be grounded? color, location?
