props for all the wiring work. super time consuming and tedious but definitely cleans things up a lot. stick with it! you should weigh all the extra parts and wires you remove. probably a good amount with the airbags

Wow man. Just WOW looking at your wiring job.

I _hate_ to say anything remotely negative, but have you considered a quick re-spray of the engine compartment while it is empty? I know with adding the new harness, it may be a chore, but it's one 'relatively' easy thing to do that is much easier when the bay is empty.

I got a good laugh out of the picture of your trunk filled with the 'misc' parts.

And to reiterate about your 13b DD.. like what GTRs13 said, keep the maintenance up on it, and it will be happy, and run for a long time.

Thanks for all the support guys. It looks like i will be painting the engine bay after all. I really wish i had the motor in, just to make all the engine wiring the right length. I can only get it so close.

Ive got to order a few more fuse holders, some terminals for the 0/1 ga, and some relays and pre-wired sockets to solder in.

Next project : dry ice on the floorboards to remove sound deadening.

oh yeah for you guys asking about the weight savings so far... i weighed the airbag on the pass side, the wiring for it, the controle module, the sound deadening behind the dash only* and the wiring ive removed, and so far its weighing in at 37 Lbs. the real savings is going to come from the sound deadening on the floor! and plus, the back seats, seat belts.

update!!

bump!

I bought some dry ice yesterday and removed all of the sound deadening! next step... painting the interior. im either going to re-spray it red, or use duplicolor undercoating for a textured finish. Any suggestions?

A lot of us jeepers use the same stuff they spray truck bed liners with because it's great against heat and it does a decent job at sound deadening. Not sure how much it weighs after it's dry though. More than paint, but not as much as the stuff you took out I'm sure.

After reading the first couple pages of this thread, it became too painful to watch. But you've turned it around into a great build thread. The results are beginning to show. I really hope the engine fires up when you get everything buttoned back up again.

Not sure if you are gonna keep cruise control or not but I just found out that the wiring for the steering wheel controls runs along with the Airbag wiring.

Hey,

Id be glad to measure that for you. I'll have to get the lifters from my parents house this week. I read somewhere that the RB shims are the exact ones that are used in the subaru's. You might want to take a look at that if possible. may be able to walk into dealership and order one for next to nothing.

Thanks! I really appreciate the encouragement. The phone works great most of the time, although i didnt know it was in any of the pictures until now! The bike is actually my fathers, i believe its a Harley davidson road king.

Thanks Onepuff, the cruise control has been removed, and i unplugged that connector when i took out the airbag wiring. good observation!

Again, Thanks for your continued support throughout this crazy never ending project.

I drew out some diagrams for everyone to see how exactly im routing all of the wiring, and where it all lays out in the actual car.

The first pic is the chasis harness, 2nd pic is the engine harness, and the next pic is the chasis and engine harness plugged into each other laid out in the car. next pic is the chasis harness close up, engine harness close up, and tail section harness close up.

enjoy
