The odometer in my z stopped working I don’t really know how to fix the issue aside from some people telling me to clean the servo motor as it could have a lot of grime making it hard to work. Any suggestions would be very appreciated thank you!!!

Is it just the odometer? Speedo is working fine?

Yes everything on the dash works except the odometer. I’m taking it apart today to see if cleaning it out will work.

My odo was also intermittent on my NA, sometimes when resetting the trip meter car mileage would be stuck there for however long until I noticed, or refilled fuel. The trip would affect the entire odo cluster, no mileage would be added until the trip was reset- so point of this is maybe check the trip meter area first for some obstruction or dust/debris accumulation.

I took it apart and it was very clean and the gears were in good conditions. Regardless I sprayed it with some WD-40 and electrical contact spray to see if it would loosen it up a bit. I’ll be putting it back together tomorrow to see if it will work. If not then I’d imagine the servo motor isn’t working, but not entirely sure.

I need some advice. I have a 1990 300zx, non turbo, 5 speed manual 2+2. The speedometer is inop. However, both the odometer and trip meter will function. But neither one is at all accurate. I had the speedometer cluster benched tested and it checked out, ok. I just purchased a speed sensor that mounts on the transmission. Is there any other components I should be looking at?
Many Thanks for your feedback.

I'd check the fsm for schematics and other service related stuff, never been down this road myself but that's where I'd start, along with how-to's and any search info I can find.
