OK, folks, first of all, the LAST thing I want to do is re-ignite any harangue/debate on the virtues of Michelin, or any other tire!

I have 235 Pilots on my 92 Q, but, it will be time to re-tire in the not too distant future. The only non-OEM thing on the Q are the Fittipauldi wheels, on it when I bought it. Checking these things, THEY WERE NOT CHEAP!

When having the Pilots mounted, the tech said that they were the "truest" wheels he had ever worked with!

I know the current limitations and offerrings for 15"ers. I would like to have the 235 size and, other than the near 15 year old finish degradation of the Fittipauldi wheels (toying with having them re-finished when I mount new tires. They are a real B**** to clean!), no great desire to change them to a taller size. I have had a number of sets of Yoko's on not only the Q, but on wife's M30. The ones on the Q, years ago, were V rated, so I really had no concern. I agree that M makes some awfully good tires (have them currently on 3 vehicles), but, I am more than willing to consider options. Let me add, though, that the Q currently resides in southern NM and, speed limits are merely signs on the roads out here and through west Texas, where the vehicle is mostly used! Cruising at 100 mph is not uncommon.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Time to ditch the 15" if you are serious about sustained extra legal speeds.

Did you get your Boerne spread?

Understand. Thanks for the advice. I will start looking more seriously.

Will be in Hill Country over 4th Holiday to continue looking. Lederhosen Fest up there in Boerne on the 3rd! Lots of good bier und wurst! Also, in Austin to visit old USAF buddy who teaches nav stuff to AA folks up at DFW behind the AA 757 that went into a mountain in South America not too many years ago (most folks do not know that Columbian air traffic controller in Cali was on the phone with his girl friend, at the time, not being too interested in vectoring airplanes! Alas, my AA friend drives a new Cooper S. No class!

Fittipaldis rock the earth. Those old wheels are indestructible.

Tire suggestions:Bridgestone Potenza G009Michelin Pilot Exalto

H-rated, affordable, and great for all-around driving. Like Brian said, you need bigger wheels to get the best tires.

Some Michelins are trash, like the Michelin Energys I'm crossing the country with right now.

Thanks, Jesda! Be careful out there!

Had some idiot throw something off I-20 overpass onto our Suburban a couple of weeks ago, east of Dallas, and it shattered the rear glass! This led to continued and scarier issues! But, we console ourselves by remembering that, one second slower, and it would have been through the windshield with possibly fatal results! Too bad I could not have see the perp(s) and got my hand down to my CZ 75 9mm with big mag! I am known to be a good shot!

Yes, agreed.

The MXM4 is a very mediocre tire, if that is the one you are referring to. The recent Pilot Sport XGT-V was a poor (dangerous) tire in rain.

I've got some 18" fittipaldi wheels on my 540i. I thought they were cheapo low quality wheels... I guess I just got a good price on them. Anyway, I don't know about things being thrown off overpasses, but a kid near where I used to live was killed by a lug nut that came off a semi truck. It went through the windshield and hit the kid in the head. Like a big bullet. Of course the trucker was unaware that it happened but that kind of crazy stuff can and does occur.

Boy! I sure like that stable you have!

I do believe that, when I checked on Fittipauldi cost in 1995, the set was about $1,600, FWIW!

You do know of Emmerson's F1 career, right? Who says there is no money in sugar cane!

Exalto 225/60 V 15 if you want to keep wheels and have a v rated strong tire that will hold up to the q`s demands
