Fitting a Shift Knob

The first change I'm going to make to my new Versa is getting a new shift knob. I searched around quite a bit on the forum for info on shift knobs that work with the reverse ring. I found several posts about specific knobs that work from Razo, Momo, etc.

My question is, why do only specific knobs work with the Versa? Would any knob documented as designed for reverse lift systems work?

For example, I really like the Momo Race Air Leather but its not listed in any of the forum posts as verified working with the Versa. I'd rather not spend $100, go through the trouble of removing the stock knob, only to find it doesn't fit.

Thanks

I got impatient and ordered the Air Leather knob. I'll give it a try when it comes and let you know if it fits.

I just spoke with a tech from MOMO and he said any of the "reverse lock out" knobs in their catalog should work fine.

truthfully any shiftknob will work. but only a few shift knob are large enough to allow the reverse up part to find inside the knob. you can always trim that part to let a regular knob fit too. It more of a look then function. My list was only there to allow people a clean look that made the shift knob look like it fit.

Thanks MIdnknight. Your posts were by far the most informative. I'll let you know how the airleather turns out.
