I was wondering if anyone has tried to fit a road bike (like in the tour de france) in the trunk of a 2007 M35. Surely the front wheel would have to come off, but would it fit then? I looking at buying a road bike for exercise and I want to have a sense of how I can transport it, as apparently a trailer hitch and accompanying bike rack is not easily achievable with an M35 and a trunk rack is not as stable or secure as would it ideally should be.

Thoughts?

There is a roof rack thread on here somewhere. Our M's actually look good with em... Type it in the SEARCH box.

Yeah, thanks, but I am not really looking for a roof rack. What I am curious about is the possibility of taking the front wheel off and putting it in the trunk, and transporting it that way.

I hear ya... I think it would be close. Will or does the bike have a quick release rear wheel also? No prob then!

If you take off the front and rear wheels, and you have a shorter (non-touring) wheelbase maybe it will work.
I put the bike in the back seat, front wheel off. :(

Mine will not fit in my trunk. I have a Specialized Roubaix (Large). I've ended up with a Thule rack (9001 Raceway Pro) that I mount on the trunk when I transport our bikes. I can put it on in about five minutes and remove it in less than three minutes. The rack has two locks on it to lock it to the trunk and to lock the bike when on the rack.

If you have a small frame, it might fit in the trunk with removing the front wheel. Maybe someone with a small bike frame can comment.

Does not fit ... certainly not in my Y34 chassis at all!

So, I have a trunk mounted carrier that I can put on when I need to. Can carry two to three bikes easily.

Well, that is obviously not what I wanted to hear, but I appreciate the feedback. Thanks, guys.
