I live in New Hampshire so having a LSD up front sounds like a good idea. What years had the LSD in the five-speeds? Was it limited to certain trim levels?

VLSD was not very avalible on Maximas If not at all from factory heh... maybe 2% had VLSD Maximas for the Gen 4.

Most I30s however had it. IF you happen to find a Max with it, you got pretty lucky. Or you can find one that had a VLSD Tranni thrown in. Those are a rare-ness as well because it is hard to find the tranni for a good price.

However if your in Canada. They had a good amount of Maxima's with the trim name of "ES". That was basically a stripped down SE(NO BOSE, sport leather, sunroof, and spoiler,Standard on an SE ) but they had VLSD.

There are 2 ways to tell if a Car has it though.

1.Jacking it up and keeping it in N, Than spinning the wheels and if the other one turns the other direction is Regular. IF that wheel turns the same direction it has VLSD.

2. Checking the Transmission VIN...

I forget the code to look for but I will find it later...

Just get an I30 than... They have the same Engine and Drivetrain of the Maxima except they have the VLSD and the car is a little more Lux like. It is not as attractive as the maxima but if you really want the VLSD to help in our NH winters go for it.

So not true! The guy that lives across the hall from me has a pearl white I30t with a 5spd, and the BBS wheels. I know him enough to be friendly, and wait till he wrecks it.

Actually any I30t has a VLSD trans, auto and/or manual. And most all Maximas (4th gens) built for use in Canada have the VLSD trans.

I have yet to see a I30 with a 5-speed maybe just the Northeast?

I jacked my front end up and when i turned my wheel, the other one didn't move at all. does this mean i dont have a LSD? interesting, b/c I remember doing a burnout in my school parking lot and there were 2 clear tire marks

p.s. i have an auto

yeah, mine only turns one in neutral too. Of course in park they spin the other way. Maybe its because it has traction control?
