Hey guys. I'm new to the 240 scene, and am about to purchase a 95 240sx with an RB25 dropped in it. It's just a stock RB25 and i'm wondering what would be a few good first upgrades to improve horsepower. I'm looking to have about $2000 to start dropping upgrades in. I was thinking maybe starting with a FMIC, greddy intake manifold, and upgrade the turbo. Let me know what you guys think.

dont waste money on a greddy manifold, your stock one will flow fine till you are well above stock power.

front mount, a good set of gauges, boost controller, then start saving for a turbo upgrade.

turbo, injectors and standalone.

gotcha, so if i did a front mount, new BOV, and a boost controller, how much PSI can the stock turbo handle.....and about how much HP can i get out of just those to start with?

nobody said anything about a BOV. they do nothing for performance and will only cause you headaches

your stock turbo is safe to 12-13psi and will max in the 250-275ish whp range.

BOV----i know no one said anything, it was just on my list to buy anyways. any suggestions on a boost controller? I've looked around, i know how they work and how to use them, but to be honest never purchased one or checked to see which one is better then which.

THanx for the info guys. Helps lots.

i did read some posts from other people USING THE ALMIGHTY SEARCH BUTTON..........and it looks like the Greddy Profec B II and the Apexi avcr are 2 very good ones to look at getting. can i get a 2nd opinion on those?

dude, trust me, you dont need a bov. dont be a ricer with a slow car and an obnoxiously loud bov. its only going to cause you problems if you get one. RB's run recirculated bov's and uncirculating it will make your car stutter and possibly stall after a gas pedal release.

and the profec b 2 is fine, the avcr is much more expensive.

wow, didn't know that about the BOV, i appreciate that tid bit of info. So i guess it's settled, FMIC, boost controller, and some nice gauges. Then head to the turbo, injectors, then standalone.

Yep that's one thing that all these little project cars I have been going through have in common. People always always say to stick with a bpv and forget about venting to the atmosphere. From what I have seen though if you insist on a bov run a real hks or one of the syndicate ones but those are higher dollar I think. And not to sound stupid but the car will have a very good hp start with the intercooler and bc. Heck it has a good hp start stock especially when you compare it to what once was powering the car. To my point. You have a higher performance engine in an average car ( it's ok so do I and many more of us). So with that said you may want to get a better brake set up and suspension. I personally wouldn't see the point of running around in a 300+ hp car with everything else being crap. Then again that's just me and I'm not saying the car is crap obviously just saying that other parts will be in a lower performance category. Do you know what driveshaft is in it and what kind of power it can handle?

From what the guy told me it's a custom fab stainless steel driveshaft. I've seen some of this guy's other cars and he does an amazing job at fabbing stuff.

Yeah brakes and suspension was going to be thrown in there also, no way am I going to be running 300+ hp and not enough braking power lol. Very nice info btw, this is helping tons.

O and just fyi I have had an hks on every single turbo car I've owned either because I bought it myself or it was on the car. The only problem I ever had was on some they would run super rich for a split second when I shifted and would like to fireball but hey the kiddies loved it.
