Hello new people. Firstly welcome to Nico! This is an excellent place with lots of advice and support! I'm glad I found it!

I thought I would take it upon myself to post this thread because I constantly see the same questions over and over. When I first came here I asked the same questions and got lots of help but was told to try using the search option once in awhile. So maybe the powers that be on here can leave this as a permanent post near the top of the forum as a reference for newbies. From what I was advised when I first came on here. Here are some simple modding tips under $2000.00 to start for your G. That I absolutely guarantee you will not regret.

Intake first - (JWT PopCharger was my choice) with Ztube this changes the sound and adds a lil hp.

Now that you have all this air coming in you want it to go out just as fast right??!!

So Dual Cat Back exhaust (I went with Stillen) with Y-Pipe

Then Motordyne 5/16 Spacer, if you want to add even more hp and increase torque, couple that with an M-Rev but you'll slightly go over the $2000.00.

There you have it, the best upgrades for your new toy for under 2K.

Then you can look into Grounding wires (still seems to be in debate here) Plugs, suspension etc.

I implore any of the other great posters on here to throw their 2 cents in. Becuase God knows, I don't know 1/4 of what some of you know.

Hope that helps some of you!

Have a kik a$$ day!!

The Dual cat-back from Stillen uses a X-pipe. The Stillen Single path exhaust can be used with the factory Y-pipe or the Stillen Y-pipe. The Dual cat-back with X-pipe makes the most power.

hrmm i was thinking about dropping in a GReddy Evo TT Full Titanium Dual Exhaust on it since it was made to be compatible very nicely with the GReddy Twin turbo Kit. A friend of mine has 3 mods to his g ( 5/8" Skunk2 Plenum Spacer, AEM CAI, and GReddy evo TT exhaust) and just those 3 he dyno'd his car at 306 to the wheels, i think that's very affordable to get that much of Power gain

And BTW whats MREV? :D :D

No way he's making that much to the wheels. You saying those 3 mods gave him 80hp to the wheels? Post a dyno sheet please because I doubt very much he's making that much, probably 270hp at the most.

The car doesn't get 288 at the wheels, more like 220.

So where are the powers that be on here??

I think this thread should stay permanent. When people come on here for the first time, they generally ask the same upgrade questions.

Don't you agree?

Oh and bigpei, see if you can post your buddy's dyno results, cause I'm pretty sure that with those upgrades, it's not possible to get 306hp to the wheels! I would say 250-260 tops!

Well, I didnt believe him at first but i stood there and watched it. It really was those 3 upgrades he did, nothing else. a stock g35 coupe with full package runs about 236-245 to the wheels on the dyno, so doesnt really seem unbelievable if u ask me. and plus i was standing there with my mouth open hehehe. Today he had just changed his H pipe from the GReddy exhaust into a X-Pipe and it actually boosted another 10 HP. now he is sitting at 315-316 whp. He also did a run with spraying a 125 shot and got 417. But yea i will get the Charts from him when i go to his shop again. be patient

He said at the wheels. Even if he didn't, I doubt very much he would dyno his car at the crank. Almost all HP numbers that are not stock are referring to WHP. G35's only push about 220-225 at the wheels stock. 306-225 = 81... No freakin way those mods would even come close to that. He might, emphasis on might, get 270rwhp if he got mrev plenum spacers with numbers being 225(stock) + 25 (spacer)+ 10(cai) + 10(exhaust) = 270. In reality it is more like what the above poster stated, about 250-260.

Cool. Why would an X pipe give more than an H pipe? Stock g35s usually push 220 stock. If he was lucky, 235, probably the highest I've seen. He sprayed a 125 shot with stock internals?

Yes. a stock g-35 coupe can withstand up to 150 shot

but as i said it is hard to believe, but it did. ill try to get his charts asap, but i have seen stock g35's pushing about 245, mine ran a 241 when i dyno'd it. im not too sure about other 03-05 models, but the fully equipped 06 coupe has 298 to the crank.

he knows alot about tuning up the performance, especially vq engines. he is an owner of a performance team called RCT performance and came back with quite a number with trophies in the past. so i know he knows what he is doing. but definitly i will get his charts as soon as he gets back from the SEMA auto show.

it depends on wat dyno system he is using they aren't all accurate. i forgot the name of the one that is off by like 2-3 hp, all u have to do to get those numbers is just play with the computer to get those. numbers i was with my boy when they were tuning his hatch and they showed me how to play with the dyno to get higher numbers then normal. so it really depends on the Dyno and a good dyno is like in the hundred thousands or something like that.

$2000 might buy some additional education or investments, something that has some resale value.
