So I have decided my first "Upgrade" will be to try and over ride some of the heating issues of the QR25DE, So In tern I have purchased a Hayden Transmission cooler, A 2.5 Trans Temp Gauge (To go inside middle a/c vent) correct me if I need a smaller or bigger size please, A water hose temperature adapter to serve as the connection inlet the old hose from the radiator and to the new hose in the transmission cooler to give me a reading of my trans temp. All in all this isn't performance upgrade but I think its a much needed start before upgrading.

I am also interested in doing this mod without the gauge. Have you had issues with overheating/ limp mode? I am coming up on 50k miles, and was thinking of whether to change the trans oil (CVT, 2.5), and if so then put a cooler onto it at the same time. I've been reading, and is this more of a early model programming thing, because the 2010-2013's had newer oil type and/or new code in the brain? If you can post pics, I would like to see how you set it up.

Hey guys referring to the original post my new bumper will be here next week and I plan on doing this so it lines up with the that I have already purchased the trans cooler and and am still awaiting gauge stuff but after seeing the suggested one I'll probably go with that. I think at some point in the coupe they came factory with a trans attached water cooler which you can buy from the stealership for 1250$, I believe the same cooler was attached to AWD Rogues with the tow package. I think the manual says to change your first cvt oil change at 60,000 and then in increments of 30,000 after that. My car has never went into limpmode, But nissan paid for a new transmission after I complained of a transmission "whine" (much like that of a supercharger, You could literally hear it from 500 yards away) so the changed the trans at 119,656 miles :rotfl . I am almost positive I know when I blew the transmission I was driving the car harder then I ever had before and the trans got hot.. Really hot... I was literally pushing the car to its maximum limits for about an hour and did multiple times after that. The trans never went into limp mode with me or threw a CEL, But when nissan took the pan off (when they replace it at the 119) they found chunks of metal and brass in the pan! The servicer on my car said he'd never seen anything like it and had no doubt in his mind that nissan would be covering the bill. The cvt is a fantastic transmission it just needs a little help, The overheating issue I think becomes more apparent and harder to resolve after the first few times you tach your coupe to its limit. I have in most cases stopped using tip mode all together to cut down on the trans load.

Wow, I think I'll just leave it be. Every time I've changed out transmission fluid on other cars it seems they go bad soon after...plus Nissan would wig out if I had a cooler, and blame me, if I tried to do the warranty work. I'll put the cooler on when it gets to triple digits, when the warranty is almost over (120k).
