Im close to my first tune up, Nissan sent me one of those service cards saying you are automatically reserved for service appointment for the week of June 25.

Is this normal for them saving a spot for you for a tune up service, it was one of those business reply post cards. From here on out would I see more of these??

This car does not need/require a tune-up until approx. 100,000 miles. All they will do is change oil, check brake pads and rotors (maybe drums too), fuel, air, and cabin filters, and thats about it. No appt. required for any of these.

These scheduled "tune up" can be beneficial, but most times they are looking for something that's not covered under warranty so they can get you to buy services. If you know absolutely nothing about cars, then you may want to take advantage of the offer.

Hate to disagree with you learned gentlemen but I think these "tune-ups" are a good idea. I doubt that it is a tune up in the traditional sense but as said earlier just an oil change and inspection. When you have a brand new car still under warranty it makes good sense to have a qualified person regularly inspecting your vehicle. If they are simply looking for non warranty stuff just so they can hose you then you are at the wrong dealership. As for your dealership reserving an appointment for you it sounds like they are just providing good service. My dealership phones me to remind me that my car should be nearing time for its next service.
