First to Second Gear Problem

I have a 1993 Infiniti G20 with 150K (automatic) and when it's shifting from first to second gear, it hesitates for a moment, then jerks really hard. The previous owners had this problem with it since they first purchased it in '96, took it to several mechanics and they didn't find anything wrong with it. Is it just a characteristic of the car? Anyone else have this problem? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Have you check the fluid lately?

I had the transmission fluid changed about 2 months ago, but it didn't seem to fix the problem.
