Friday night I drove from Austin to RCR to find out what the 240 runs.

Well, the trip didn't start off so good. Traffic in Austin on I-35 is a *****! My electrical fans shut off unexpectedly in traffic, and the heat shot up to 265°2 hours later after chasing down the electrical short in the fans to a connection under the dash that had come loose and refilling the then empty radiator (it overflowed like a mofo and melted the bottom out of the plastic overflow tank) we were back on the road to RCR.

It was cold, and we were all hoping for good numbers from our cars.

Get to RCR, change to the ET Streets, and go watch a few runs while the car cools down. When we get back to the car there is a small puddle of dexcool under my car towards the back of the motor. Not sure if it was from mine or not, I started the car up and it seemed to run ok.

Did my burnout and pulled up to the tree. Everything is looking good, and the car seems to be running great. Tight turns green and the ccar squats HARD and leaves with a 1.99 60'.Shift into 2nd at 5400 and all looks good. The car is pulling hard, and just keeps pulling.Cross the 1/8th and bang into 3rd. That's when it got bad. Apparantly there was a light misting of water on the big end of the track, and my slicks broke loose. The rear end walked back and forth and I let off the gas. Nice 1/8th pass, but still no clue about a correct 1/4 time.

Car was Dyno Tuned with LT1 Edit Saturday morning, and is running good except for a fall off in power in 3rd gear that we're not quite sure about the cause of.

Sorry for the bad luck man. Hopefully you'll straighten things out with the LT1 and it'll learn who's boss. I can't wait for you to get some real times done. What was the reaction from everyone at the track when they saw your 240?

everyone at the track was amazed.Especially when it squatted and left the line with the front suspension maxed out.

Just need a posi or LSD unit under there and it'll carry the front wheels.

I wish our tracks were open in the winter. That's why Texas is the best for everything. Everything is open all year, and there are so many things to do. So, did everyone know what you were driving? That would have been fun to sit there and feel proud of your s14 and brag..he

Aries, nice work - You gotta expect some pitfalls when you get extreme... Any problems with the unibody flexing?

Can't wait to see some pics of the install - You've got me thinking bad thoughts (as I'm itching for a new project car...):D

I've already installed a set of stock springs, and the unibody didn't seem to flex at all with our frame suports and cross bars.

We'll be trying it again this weekend with some mods.

Corvette's have had 350's for as long as I can remember, and they've been 6spd manual since the late 80's..
