Car: 2009 Nissan Versa 1.6 Base

Post

Greetings everyone!

My name is Dale and the wife is Lisa. We just bought our first Nissan today! It's a Versa Base 1.6 sedan. It is missing a few amenities which I plan on adding as I can (like power locks, power windows, power mirrors, and a factory head unit), which I have a few questions on. Sorry... no pictures yet. We only got home after dark, and the wife is going to have it at work all week. We kinda bought it for her as our 1997 Plymouth Voyager minivan was costing us $55US every week and a half to two weeks. Now I get the van, but that's OK. I don't go anywhere most of the time as I am on disability.

Anyhow... I think we got a great deal on the car. It's a 2009, and only had 13,650 miles on it. We paid $10,465US! What do you all think? We actually almost didn't get it. When our sales guy went for the keys he found out another sales person had them with a customer, a woman and her son. I guess it wasn't sporty enough for the kid (or had enough bells and whistles), as when we returned from our short but sweet test drive they were still talking with the sales rep. We hurried into the showroom and started paperwork before they changed their minds. Had to laugh when MY son saw the car (and rode in it)... he started thinking he's gonna get to drive it real soon! We just started limited traffic driving with him on his learners permit. Fat chance!

Anyone have suggestions for installing the upgrades I would like to do? I'm going off of the presumption that all of the basic wiring for everything will be there as it is easier to install when the car is being built so they can install any upgrades at the dealership that the customer wants added easier (and quicker). I hope I am presuming correctly. The plan is to start calling junk yards for parts when we are ready to start.

Glad I found the forums! Already downloaded the service manual!

I also need some help with the forums. In the FAQ it says to subscribe to a topic to do one of two things...

1. Reply to the topic with the subscribe checkbox checked OR
2. click the “Subscribe topic” link within the topic itself

Problem is I don't see the checkbox in #1, or the link in #2. If I reply to a topic it DOES subscribe me, but I don't always want to post a reply in order to subscribe. Sometimes I want to watch a topic without replying (because I don't have anything pertinent to say on the subject).

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums. I own a 1.6 as well.

Looks like you got a good deal. Im not sure about the FAQ but adding the parts mentioned above shouldn't be hard. Power windows sounds like a project though. Any more plans for it?

After doing some research I've decided the power windows are a no go. We are still on for the power locks (and an aftermarket keyless entry system), and power mirrors. We have also decided to do an aftermarket cruise control from Rostra (part number 250-9504 for vehicles with or without ABS).

Right now the power locks and cruise control take precedence.

BTW, what kind of mileage do you get with your Versa? And is it a hatchback or sedan?

Thats nice. I've thought about getting cruise control but most of my driving is city so I wouldn't really use it. MPG is great, usually 32-35. And sedan, as of right now the 1.6 is only available in sedans.

I believe our cars look the same, the only difference is the year.
