Hey first post! Anyways, I was wondering how a 92 Q would fare against a 95 manual Honda Prelude in the quarter mile?Because a friend wants to try me with his other friend who has pretty much the same car he has (a prelude) this friday in light of his birthday.

Depends on condition of transmission and engine ........the 92Q will cover the quarter in 15.2-15.6 seconds normally depending on temperature and elevation [baro pressure].http://www.syclone.freeserve.co.uk/rivals.htm
Pretty much equal depending on driver.Tell us which one is faster after the race.

One has to wonder why compare a 4 cylinder, two seater, ton and a half car with a manual transmission to a two ton, four seat, V8 automatic luxury car?

Well the one I'm going to race is an 2.3 si. If I raced my friend I would be racing against a 2.2 VTEC H22 engine- he has a custom cold air intake. Its gonna be on a drag strip a 1/4 mile run... I'll probably wait for my engine to cool down 30min to a hour before I do other runs. I've checked this site: www.missouri.edu/~apcb20/times.html for 0-60 and quarter mile times and it seems it'll be about even.

Yeah, also I did read up on this chain guide problem- thats a big concern. I have 141,800 mi on my car now... I got it in March with 139k. My transmission was replaced in 95' by the previous owner when it must've went bad (service record)- replaced with 92' transmission cause it starts in second gear. From what I've read I need to get new chain guides and a transmission cooler soon.

Most definitely! It will be a real bummer if your engine craters, even if you "win" the race. Good call on the dragstrip.
Do a little more reading here and you will realize a short time ago 3 1992 Q45 were lost due to timing chain guide failure within a 6 month period on this board alone!

Check out NICO's articles section for some info on chain guides. transmission coolers are cheap too. Mine was $100 installed. Wes has a how-to guide at http://www.q45.org if you want to install it yourself.

It seems the most I can do before the race is to remove the cover over the chain guides and see if it is starting to crack and show wear...(funds). I will take of that as soon as I take care of the power steering pump and hoses which are busted but the dealer said I could drive on for a while. They're charging me $1,300 and I've been driving for 2 months already which has me worried. I only need to take care of 700 out of that amount- the rest is covered. This all tells me to put aside the race and take the bench... for a while.
