We'll I must first introduce myself. My name is Joel and I have owned my civic for 4 years now. It's been turbo for 3 years and I am proud to say I never blew an engine. So the resound why I am here is my friend just sold me his 92 240SX SE. I am buying the car with the intent to do an SR swap. For the last 2 weeks I have been reading many sites (heavey throttle, Fresh Alloy, afterdark, ect) My civic right now has a programable ECU along with the T3/T4 turbo setup. I hate to say it but I am selling the car so I can pay for the SR swap. So here is my first question. I would really like to go standalone on my SR setup. I understand Haltech is a great choice. But I haven't been able to find anyone who has done this setup on an SR motor in a 240. I would think that doing this would save money in the long run. First you don't need to get a compleat swap and then in the future you wouldn't have to worrie about MAF upgrades or ECU upgrades when the time comes. But I am a little worried about small things about the setup (crank/Cam sensor mounting, getting the thing to run!!) So if anyone out there has done this setup let me know please!

I dont personally know anyone whos done it, but i have seen it done before, both on peoples cars and on the internet. its not an easy system to set up or tune, but i'm sure you already know that.

A buddy of mine just moved out to Vegas from New York, and he worked at this shop, I think it was called Kaztech or something like that. AFAIK, it was in the Long Island area. I know that they did mostly SERIOUS ECU setups. I think they carried either Haltech or Motec, I can't remember which. Anyway, when he gets online, I'll talk to him about it for you.

I H8 UR DSM lives in Long Island, maybe hes heard of the place. I don't know anything other than that, or their reputation.

no, never heard of them...

There are people here who could tune and set up your haltech for you, ie. Performance Factory, Paisley Racing, Unorthodox...

But there is a real good resource in PA, i forget the name, i can find it for you, but i know they are big rx7 guys, and are doing my friend vinny's T72turbo install, and haltech setup, i dont know if they are only rotary shop, but i assume they wouldnt hate against a 240 : )....

Matt from importintelligence is from pa, and he has an SR for a while now, im sure he knows everyone in your area that he could recommend someone good....

.welcome.

Thanks for the replys. I am not really looking for a shop to do my work. I do all my own work. I work at a garage and I have done all the work on my Civic. What I want to know is if anyone has done this setup. I am looking for details like are the stock cam/crank sensors on the SR able to be used by the Haltech. Or if I need to put the Haltech crank sensor on the engine what is needed to make it fit. I know that the Motech system that I am putting on my friends Saab 900 won't work with the Saabs DIS system becasue it uses the ingition pulses from the Direct Ignition system, along with the crank sensor, to figure out which cylinder is at DTC. To make it work we need to used a Distrubter from a non-turbo model. Those are the kinda of details I am after. Or maybee I should just look into a Power FC setup. But from what I have seen they don't make one for the S13.

I would recommend running the power fc. Thats what I have and would recommend it as one of the first mods after intake and exhaust. If you look and talk to some of the people on the rx7 forums they might be able to help you out on the haltech. My buddy's on an rx7 forum and he said there's a tone of guys running in on there 7's and there's alot of support of it.

What do the Fower FC's go for? Could I eliminate the MAF sensor with the power FC on the S13? Thats what I am after since I am use to the speed density cars like mine.

Yes, You can get the power fc pro. Thats the newest one out. You can go airflowless with it. I'm sure you can pick it up somewhere in the states. I would recommend buying the commander at the same time.
