Ok my car is a 1990 240sx with the ka24e in it. Today i was driving it and it started to randomly die on me then wouldn't start for about 10 minutes. Then it'd drive fine then maybe 10 minutes later it'd die. then it wouldn't start for another 10 minutes blah blah ongoing cycle. This is the first time it's given me trouble and i'm stumped i know it's not the battery or alternator or starter. And it wasn't overheating at all according to my gauge.... also all fluids are where they need to be. The only thing i can think of is that it was because it was hotter than usual today where i live about *110. Has anyone here had the same problem? Thanks in advance to all who reply.-david-

When it dies is it at idle or when your moving? and when you try and start it again does it try to run (ie: sputter and die) or just crank and nothing else? The first thing I would check is the ignition coil, make sure all connections are solid, also check the condition of you plugs. Look for any fouling, thats a sign of flooing which would explain why the car would start again 10mins later. Let us know what you find.

Ok it would die at both at idle and while moving... i let it sit for a while when i got it home and the same stuff happened. and it does crank but doesn't start for like 10 minutes. i checked the plugs they all seemed fine. I'm going to just replace the plugs and the wires to be safe. and i'll check the ignition coil today.

Well if your plugs are okay then its likley not running rich, my money is on the coil. On older cars sometimes things can act up in extreme heat, in any event there are three connectors on your coil. 1 main 3 (or 4) pin connector and two smaller connectors. The two smaller connectors seem to collect alor of dirt and grime, just clean them off for starters and make sure the main harness connector is snug and clean.

a bad fuel filter will act that way. It'll go down the road and then quit. After sitting awhile the pressure built up in the clogged filter will go down an let some gas through again and you can drive it home or around for awhile until it'll quit again.
