So I finally experienced it the amazing undescribable feeling of being in your 240 going sideways, and just being able to control the car (well at least most of us can haha) to go around turns sideways and slidin outta them. I experienced it today, it was snowing pretty bad and i went up to my friends house and hes like common man lets go drifting so me and my two friends (one of them was over my house from before) jammed into my small s13 and we were off, i start going sideways around turns in my developement then my friend Pat wisely suggests that we go to this empty school parking lot, i know a lot of you are thinking wtf is this kid doing, but no one cares about what goes on over there so we thought we'd take advantage of it. Ill admit it I was scared at first, not giving it enought gas when i started to slow down losing control of my drift, and the thought of recking my 240 and having to tell the rents, haha wouldnt have gone over too good. But when i started counter steering right and giving it enough gas i was sliding like ive never imagined . And let me tell you it felt truly amazing and even though it was in the snow, making it easier to slide and better for the tire haha it felt as real as ever. Most of all it gave me a sense of humility, that these cars are very amazing cars, but can and will lose control very easily if not handled right. So kids dont go drifting in a crowded/high populated area where your going to attract attention, or run the risk of hitting something because lemme tell you i was scared and the chance of me being cought was very slim. So if anyone else wants to share their first drifting moments with the club here, thats why i started it, to share the wonders and amazement of driving and more importantly drifting these cars.

good story! glad you went to a parking lot and not the busiest intersection you could find in town. my story today is i picked up my friend and we were going to red lobster (which i hate because i dont even like seafood) and i was turning left onto the main road and went into the turn a little hard (normal for dry roads but it was wet) and the back end of the car slid out a little bit since it was raining. not a 'drift' but i kept control of the car :lol (a little advice: slow down if you dont mean to do it

My first time was in a parking lot with Heavy Rain.. Practicing how to do donuts and what not first. Then went to TRY to do a drift. First time is damn scary if you ask me. Going sideways and not being able to feel like your controlling your car is the worst thing you can be in. That being in the rain, (rain day is drift given day). Going to try to practice without the rain.It was 2:00 in the morning and nobody was around so i had fun.

I disagree... where most peoples first time to get sideways is in the rain, that doesnt make it a drift... it makes it a slide... the equivalent of Honda power sliding with ebakes. Sure its fun, but it takes none of the same characteristics or skills as drifting does. In fact, its MUCH harder to actually drift on a wet surface, and only few can do it right.

^^^ true story, i have a couple of japanese drift videos (saisokou, and a couple others) and when they are in the rain...a lot less people are drifting(the more skilled ones), and it is WAY crazier

The first time I got sidewayz was back when I was 17. well it was like 12 am and I was with my girl, right. I was nervous and kinda sweatin cuz it was such a hot night. I did it with the lights off in the dark. I was so turned on. 10seconds into going sideways, I lost it and shot my load all over my chickx backside. Sideways is the way to go guys if you haven't tried it. And then I rolled over and fell the **** to sleep.

The first time i did a nice drift was in a 1987 supra it had a few mods but with the turbo it was so smooth and the tires smoked like crazy. I use to do it with my 91 240 but that was when i was like 18 i pobably couldn't do it now to save my life, i was driving a integra with turbo for 2 year but sold it and finally got a 95 240.

First time sideways... just turned 16, just got a new used 1985 MR2... Oh man she was sweet. perfect condition, and that 4AGE would sing... Had it a week... it was raining.... light turned yellow when I was planning on turning left... so, I dont slow down much at all, try to take the turn, and I get completely sideways, slide probably 15-20 yards, and somehow get enough to control to get it stopped, and somehow didnt go into the opposing line of traffic. Luckily, the people on my side of the road saw what happened and braked. Dont play in the rain kids.

First time I got sideways was in a wet lot after it had rained hardcore like w few weeks ago. I must admit, the wheel hop scared the hell out of me but it was fun controlling the car sideways and such.

My first time was a couple weeks ago on my way to work. chose to take the back roads for lack of lights. i happened to be burning cheeba on the way (flame on if u like), so i had one hand on the wheel, the other hand holding "it" and on the shifter. too ka turn at about 55 and found myself sideways looking at the other side of the bank. a quick little countersteer fixed the problem. definately wasnt expecting to slide that much, but all is well.

I wanna tak emy car to some event or parking lot or somethin, but i gotta get the car checked out first. i definately dont like the front end wobble .

When I turned 16 I went crazy with my car.If I was around anyone I didn't speed or do anything illegal. As soon as I hit the back roads I'd let her rip. From drifting back then it saved my *** today. Week before X-mas goign to Daytona and it was raining 1st time that month and all the oil come on top of the road. I downshifted and my car started sliding at 70mph. Wiped it aorund and locked my brakes going 50 in reverse down to 30 and turned back around but had to much motion and did another 360 which as soon as I straightened I was next to another car at the light And I played it cool like it was an everyday thing. About a month ago I was goign 40 in a 35 light turns green ahead of me and the cars start to move. I grab my ceelphone lookup the cars are stopped and 30ft away. I cut into the next and cut back I was facing their passenger doors slide past about 4 cars as I was slowly straightening it out. That was from pure instinct because I still don't see how I could do that because the was no room for error. Drifting saved my life

was a bowl, but either way.

dunno bout you, but i could easily find/buy another bag of chronic as opposed to finding a nice 240 like mine. so i'd drop the J in a heartbeat if necessary. but i had it under control, so i didnt have to drop anything

Lesse the first time I did a slide was a couple years ago prolly around age 17, I don't really remember where I started but I didn't have any knowledge of drift techniques, just knew what drifting looked like and tried to do soem thing to recreate it. So I didn't know what power over, and clutch kicking were...(my car has hicas so power over takes a little more to get started) Anyway I tooled around with the ebrake for awhile somewhere safe, didn't hit anything didn't get caught.

I didn't own the car I was using though, it was my dad's and my parents are divorced so I didn't get to even be around the car but like once a month or every other month. I got to where I was screwing around in it some, practicing either grip or fooling with the ebrake. At the time I was quite cautious by nature (I think drifting has actually changed that part of my personality haha! Tho I'm still more cautious than most--as far as driving goes it's a good habit in this day and age) so I was doing as little as possible to upset the traction of the car. Just enough to feel it start to slip. Yeah I was sucking but over the year I played with breaking traction now and then until I finally got custody of the car (haha sayin it like it's a family member or a kid lol) --yeah dad gave me the car after a while. Anyway it took forever for me to give the car enough input to make it lose traction for very long.

First drift experience...like decent drift was probably only last year (Almost 20 years old then) when I was playing in the snow. Snow is a great learning tool if you have it around when you want to try things out at much safer speeds. I'm alright now, but I have a lot to learn, which makes me feel optimistic. Man, learning a decent countersteering technique took forever. I was always countersteering enough to pull the car back into stability and not sustain the drift. Oh well.

With a new autocross and drift event season starting up I'm looking forward to more seat time. Especially the kind where you don't have to worry about getting harassed and can play in broad daylight haha!
