welp, I finally got a ticket in my A/C. I was just getting off work, probably a little before 8AM, and I was at the light waiting to turn onto the freeway onramp. I was at the front of the line, and when the light turned green for the traffic from the offramp to cross the intersection, a CHP officer did a double take at me and I knew I was gonna get stopped at least.

Lo and behold, as soon as I turn onto the onramp.. he's waiting at the bottom. So I pass, and don't even attempt to merge on the freeway cuz I know I'm gonna get stopped in ~1 minute or so. In the end, I got a ticket for my front windows too dark and my tailights. I knew the windows were illegal, but I'm pretty mad he gave me a ticket for my tailights considering how light they are. I'm gonna just pay that fine, though, and hope I don't get stopped again..

But yeah. Got two new pics of my car without tint, and I took off the stickers too. I took off the quarter windows + back windshield because they were both bubbling in spots, and I'm not a fan of mismatched tint. But yeah... here's my A/C again! Not that anyone here hasn't seen it yet

I kinda like it, so much that I probably won't be putting tint back on for a while :bigthumb:

When I used to have 5% tint up front, I rolled my windows down every time I saw a cop. Makes it easier to see you when you give em the finger and you avoid getting a ticket for dark tint.

cops always hate on my car so I just make it legal to avoid the problems. people in my neighborhood always run stop signs and people have complained to the cops a lot so now theirs cops hiding in bushes to see if you make a 100% complete stop and your car is 100% legal or you get pulled over. they pulled over my friend in front of my house just to search his car and see if he had any illegal mods. they got him with no licence plate, no carb # on intake, and some other stuff... so when ever I drive past them they just look and try to find something to give me a ticket for but can't.

wow! I heard you could get a ticket for being too low but never knew anyone who actually got a ticket for it... how low are you legally aloud to be? my modified Y-pipe sits super low to the ground.

since you're in cali, just do 5% on the back 3 windows and call it a day. the front has factory tint so it looks dark and you cant get a ticket for factory tint... back ones can be however dark you want.

^ is your coupe a 2.5?

also the ticket for the tails is whack man

I've had mine this dark for about 2 years now and never once have I been pulled over for them nor have they even been mentioned when I was pulled over for speeding a few months ago. My windows are also 5% and never a word about them either lol

the joys of living in cali :tisk:
i go to school in irvine (3rd safest city in the u.s.) and the cops seriously have nothing better to do than pick at people to give tickets. it gets really bad around the end of the month when some cops havent met their quota. good thing i haven't gotten stopped in my turbo diesel (no cats, egr delete, intake, limo tint all around..etc)

back to the OP, your car doesnt look bad without the tint. kinda looks cool, i dont remember when my car looked like that since i got the windows tinted the very next day i brought her home

Yeah definitely should have thought about that.. although he saw me from the front, so maybe since he couldn't really see inside he could tell my windows were pretty dark? I dunno.. and he came outta nowhere too - don't they always? :ohno:

Yeah I'm not trying to bring too much attention to myself. I think the loudest thing about my car (pun intended) is my exhaust, other than that I think it's pretty stealthy now with no tint or stickers.

Well I don't have any tint on the front actually. And I'm not the biggest fan of mismatched tint (as per the CA law), so I'm not sure if I'll be putting tint back on anytime soon.

Hahah, no s***! There's actually a Sheriff who lives a couple houses down from me, seems nice enough and waves when I drive by. I'm gonna ask his opinion on if they're too dark.. who knows, maybe he can hook me up somehow? All I know is that my the ticket for my tailights isn't a fix it :(

I'm jealous! I probably woulda kept my tint on for a while longer, but the back window was bubbling at the top and the door windows were poorly cut along the edges so I would have taken them off & replaces sooner or later.

Hah, no kidding! I've heard a lot about Irvine.. and the not-too-friendly police force was one of the things!

Yeah exactly, I bought my car with the tint already so I was kind of excited to see what it was gonna look like. Needless to say, it looks really good IMO. Nice and clean. Although getting used to a hot car and the sunlight is gonna suck...

I just did this Photoshop of the eBay roof wing I'm thinking about getting.. not sure yet. Opinions?

12 times pulled over here! This was with my 2004 Altima.

Not one ticket.

I got pulled over for tail tints AND even when I changed them to SER tails. Also for window tints to. My excuse was either
A) I bought the car this way and
B) I was not aware that window tints were illegal. Why would a tint shop do this without telling me its illegal?"

It also helps when you're a city employee =P
