Nothing scientific, but the last week I filled up the Versa (1.8 auto) right after buying it. It was on three small marks from E and I added 9.2 gals. I still have about 1/3 of a tank left and have put 225 miles on the car. I can tell I will have an avg well over 25 mpg by the time I fill up again. This is combined driving.

Hope this keeps up. Was driving my F350 to work (6.4L powerstroke) and getting about 15 avg per week. :)

Ha! Yeah, comparing an F350 to a Versa is a bit much, but having my weekly fuel drop over 60% is a welcome relief.

OK- so I calculated out my 1st tank at 34.5 mpg. This was combined highway/city. I actually did a lot of errand running around town the first couple days on that tank.

It's all relative. Our Versa replaced a 1994 Honda Civic so we've been disappointed in the mileage but the Versa has a lot of other redeeming qualities that more than offset the mileage factor.

I have a six speed manual, 1.8L, 2009 Versa hatchback.

I used to average 26 MPG. Mostly 'city' driving (stop and go traffic) around Atlanta, Georgia.

Now I am getting over 35 MPG. The last tank was 37 MPG.

I've changed my driving habits. I now take off slower, turn the engine off at traffic lights (the long ones), use the AC less and coast in neutral downhills.

But, how the heck do some of you guys get over 40 MPG? Even on the highway, I cannot manage to pull that off. What speeds are you guys cruising at?

I set my cruise at about 90-95km/h, but keep the AC on.
My 3 tank lifetime stats below.
I would do better if I stopped the drive-thru lunches :slap:
I will get a flowmaster or magnaflow cat-back system someday.
Maybe soon if helps with $$$!
Did you install K&N and muffler at same time?
Which one saves more $?
Which one improves sound the best?

Thanks for the info.

My Versa didn't come with cruise control. But, I can probably control my speed better than cruise control (Atlanta has too many cars).

An update--- My car has a little over 9000 miles. I've been getting consistant 31mpg at every fill. Combined driving, more highway than city.

I have twice achieved 36mpg on trips of about 150 miles. I drive a bit slow, about 68-70 mph on the highway with cruise.

I recommend scan gauge II for all that have MPG issues.
