Infiniti will unveil a JX concept at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, before introducing the production model at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It will eventually be launched in the spring of 2012.

I am actually very interested in this vehicle. If I were single and did not have kids, I would probably drive an FX50, but with kids, space is at a premium, and hence the reason I have an Armada. I will seriously considering purchasing a JX in the near future after its release, especially if it is what I am hoping for out this particular vehicle. I am expecting a 3.7 / 7spd combo, and a V8 or hybrid version would be awesome.

I was at the Pebble beach release, and it was pretty cool. They wouldn't talk drive trains with me, but gave me a little smile and said they had picked out what they were using already.

Is the FX being phased out? The JX looks to compete directly with the it, and IMO it is a far sight better looking automobile. It is a large SUV @ 196" lg and 77" wide. I thought it was to replace the EX, but for sure it is in a completely different class. The strange thing is, there seems to be no new technology like a Hybrid or Turbo option. Just seems to be an FX with some new skin? Yes, No?

Not with the JX having a 265HP CVT engine, no way - the FX is here to stay.

No, the FX is not being phased out. FX and JX are actually COMPLETELY different vehicles. The FX is much more of a performance inspired vehicle (larger engines, 7spd tranny, RWD based, smaller) then the more family oriented and economical JX. Personally I would LOVE an FX, but I have two growing boys who needs space, so it would not be a good idea, that is why I have the Armada. JX has 3 comfortable rows of seats to carry more passengers, FX is certainly a tight fit in the back seat, and not a ton of cargo space.
