since youre the first one who ive seen do it, you get the questions now:

better to cryo treat before or after machining to spec?

i would think after?

because the cryo is supposed to contract the molecules, then expand them back to normal uniformly (isnt that the idea of a forged item anyway?)

but would further machining cause inconsistencies near the tooling?

or does teh cry process leave the item in *EXACTLY*( the same shape afterwords? .... if that were the case, then obviously machining -THEN cryo would be the way to do itBut, is that the case?

well let me tell you it this way. i have known a few f1 cars to take the whole rotating driveline and cryotreat it as a whole assembly then lube it up and race it. that is actually the best way. and yes you are right if lets say i decide to take some meat off the rods to make them balanced and it was cryotreated before hand. then yes it would not be "neutral" it would be off. but for the most part you would have most of the product neutralized. but once again cryotreating as a whole assembly is the best way to go

On the Wiseco pistons, what kind of CR are you using and what bore did you select.....

going with a 86.5 mm bore and a 8.5:1 compression ratio. they are forged and the main difference from the ones i am getting and the ones they sell is i am doing a custom deck on top of the rings to allow for more heat transfer before contacting the rings. (pretty much more material on top of the rings)

that sounds like an excellent idea, how much did it cost for wiseco to make you those pistons, and will you cryo them as well?

**goes and googles cryotreating**

Wow, they didn't have an oil channell in them already? That's scary for a high rev motor. They're in there stock IIRC....
